In 2001 I visited an keeper in an animal shelter. She asked me if I could pet a few cats because there was often no time left to do so.
I looked up and saw an animal lying very apathetic and absolute uninterested.
I said, “Gee, are you pretty ! “. When the keeper returned, she said: “ What's that, she has never done so before ! “
The animal danced loudly meowing around my legs. It was months in that shelter and had given up herself. Nobody wanted her. Why? Bad health, much too old [7], smelly, felted skin.
The owners wanted to put the cat down but the vet didn’t do so. Therefore they gave her away to that shelter, asking again to put her down.... And so she waited - for me ...?. It took years to gain her trust. She has been treated very, very badly - I'll spare you the details ....
