Activités scientifiques de l’équipe :

L’équipe « Nanomatériaux », classée A par l’AERES, développe un ensemble de travaux autour de procédés d’élaboration originaux de nanoparticules par chimie « douce » (procédé polyol, avec plus récemment synthèse par voie micro-ondes), ou biologiquement assistée (réduction assistée de sels métalliques par des microalgues) dont la composition (métaux, oxydes, chalcogénures, phosphates, oxalates, hydroxydes, …) assurant un très bon contrôle de la forme et de la taille des objets préparés.

L’activité de l’équipe s’oriente aujourd’hui autour de 4 axes. Le premier consiste à poursuivre l’investigation de méthodes de synthèse et de post-traitement afin notamment de contrôler la nanostucturation des matériaux et d’en tirer parti au niveau des applications. Les 3 autres allient recherche fondamentale et applications variées selon la composition des nanoparticules, leur forme, leur taille, leur état de surface (fonctionnalisation) et leur mise en forme (colloïdes, massifs, couches minces, …). Ces axes sont :

« Chimie-Santé » : développement de sondes spécifiques à partir de nanoparticules pour l’imagerie médicale (IRM, fluorescence) ou pour la thérapie par hyperthermie ; étude de la toxicité des nanoparticules ;

« Chimie-Sciences et technologie de l’information » : élaboration et mise en forme de nanomatériaux magnétiques pour supports granulaires à l’enregistrement à haute densité, aimants permanents à haute Tc, composants hyperfréquences actifs ou passifs, …

« Chimie-Energie » : élaboration et mise en forme de matériaux pour la mise au point de dispositifs intervenant dans le stockage ou la conversion de l’énergie (hybrides pour le photovoltaïque,  nanocomposites pour le thermoélectrique,  céramiques nanostructurées pour application magnétocalorique ou pyroélectrique, nanocomposites à matrice polymère ou graphitique pour électrodes de batteries à ions Li+ ou Na+, etc. Cet axe s’intéresse aussi à toutes les études liées aux problèmes environnementaux et de dépollution, telles que la valorisation du gaz carbonique, la photocatalyse de substrats aqueux ou gazeux, etc.

L’ensemble des ces travaux est mené grâce à des collaborations actives avec d’autres groupes du laboratoire (greffage en surface, synthèse organique, modélisation,..) et des laboratoires extérieurs nationaux (Université Paris 5, Paris 6, Paris 13, CNRS-Thiais, ENS Cachan, ENS Lyon, Université du Maine, Université de Nancy, INSA Toulouse) et internationaux (Tunisie, Maroc, Algérie, Japon, Chine, Canada, Mexique, Brésil, Argentine, Espagne, Pologne, Italie, ..). Le groupe a aussi tissé ces dernières années quelques liens avec l’industrie. Plusieurs collaborations ont déjà été nouées avec des entreprises telles que NANOBIOTIX, HYPERTECHNOLOGIE – SAINT GOBAIN, HYDROQUEBEC et d’autres :

des contrats de prestation de service ou de collaboration scientifique sont en cours de négociation ou de signature.

Recherche(s) et résultat(s) obtenu(s) dans les domaines d’actions des nanosciences :

Très peu de travaux de l’équipe ont fait l’objet d’un soutien financier de la région IdF. Les financements issus du pôle C’Nano ont permis de financer deux thèses et un post-doc : la thèse de Melle Clémence Sicard portant sur l’encapsulation minérale de micro-algues an collaboration avec le collège de France (Dr. Thibaud Coradin), la thèse d’Alice Da Silva portant sur l’étude de la toxicité et du devenir de nanoparticules inorganiques de synthèse ou manufacturées en collaboration avec le collège de France (Dr. Thibaud Coradin) et le Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle MNHN (Dr. Jean-Pascal Lopez) et le post-doc de M. Surender Sharma portant sur l’étude de l’anisotropie d’échange (Exchange Bias) sur des nanoparticules magnétiques contrastées de type cœur@coquille, en collaboration avec l’Université Paris 6 (Dr. Philippe Sainctavit). L’essentiel de ces travaux est en cours.Dans ce contexte, les quelques résultats majeurs issus de ces travaux en particulier et ceux issus des autres études importantes menées dans l’équipe mais bénéficiant d’autres soutiens financiers (co-tutelles, ANR, Ministère des affaires étrangères, Industrie, …) sont résumés ci-dessous :

Utilisation efficace de nanoparticules d’oxydes de fer, de taille calibrée ( 3 nm) et fonctionnalisées (molécules de diéthylèneglycol) comme catalyseurs spécifiques pour la croissance de nanotubes de carbones dans des puits organisés sur des substrats de silicium modifiés destinés à la microélectronique

2- Ultra-fine grained dense Ni-Zn spinel ferrite ceramics produced by Spark Plasma sintering (SPS) of polyol-made nanoparticles

Elaboration de céramiques ferrimagnétiques nanostructurées (taille de grain 60 nm) à partir du frittage flash par SPS de nanoparticules (taille de particule 20 nm) préparées par hydrolyse forcée en milieu polyol. Les caractéristiques magnétiques statiques mesurées sur ces céramiques sont proches de celles connues pour le ferrite massif mais des différences existent dans leur comportement dynamique.

Nanoparticules de CdS adsorbées sur la surface latérale d’un nanotube de carbone (NTC) fonctionnalisé par des sels de diazonium thiolés. Etude de l’influence du groupe fonctionnel porté par les NTCs sur l’adsorption de quantum dots.

Programme de recherche :Les projets de recherche de l’équipe nanomatériaux du laboratoire ITODYS, Université Paris 7, s’articulent autour des quatre axes présentés précédemment. L’objectif premier de l’équipe est de maîtriser complètement la synthèse en milieu polyol avec l’élucidation des mécanismes réactionnels (réduction, oxydation, substitution nucléophile, hydrolyse, …) à l’origine des protocoles d’élaboration de différents nanomatériaux inorganiques ainsi que les mécanismes de nucléation et croissance qui régissent la morphologie (taille, distribution en taille, forme, …) de ces derniers.Des efforts sont aussi à fournir pour la compréhension des mécanismes biologiques mis en jeu dans la production de différents types de nanoparticules inorganiques par des micro-organismes vivants dans différentes conditions métaboliques, pour à termes mimer efficacement les principales réactions enzymatiques impliquées.Enfin, le contrôle de la nature des nanoparticules élaborées, leur structure et leur microstructure devrait permettre la mise au point de matériaux fonctionnels à forte valeur ajoutée dans différents domaines allant du médical, à la micro-électronique en passant par l’énergie et l’environnement.
