Les 10 215 visiteurs, tous professionnels apprécient cette unité de temps, de lieu et d’offre. Avec 22 % de visiteurs internationaux (contre 18 % en 2012), issus de 74 pays, le Carrefour International du Bois 2014 marque une belle progression de son visitorat international.

At the last show, 530 exhibitors and 10215 visitors gathered at Nantes’ newly renovated Exhibition Park, for three jam-packed days.
Right from the start, you, our exhibitors and/or par-tners, confirmed that the 2014 show was a definite success. You were numerous in indicating your satisfaction concerning the quality of the visitors over the 3 days.
This document aims to give you a more detailed look at Carrefour International du Bois 2014 with :

The economic climate has brought people together, the quality of the products on offer acted like a magnet and the newly renovated exhibition park certainly appealed to the European timber industry. The Carrefour confirmed more than ever that it is the place to be - to do business in a friendly atmosphere, be it on the stands or in the aisles.
“The 2014 show has brought us a large amount of contacts, decision makers from the trade and the hardware chains, they were all there”, “exemplary organization and an expert level of visitors looking for practical and very specific solutions”, “The Carrefour du Bois is an efficient show, which has proven its legitimacy over the years, it is the moment where we meet and discuss with current and prospective clients in a friendly atmosphere.” : here are just a few of the comments from exhibitors during or after the show, a proof of their satisfaction.

The quality of the 530 exhibitors covering the entire field of timber products from traditional transformation to construction solutions attracted 10215 visitors, all trade, who appre-ciated the combination of time, place and what was on offer. With an increase of 2%, of which 22% were international (in comparison to 18% in 2012), coming from 74 countries, the Carrefour du Bois 2014 showed a satisfactory improvement and confirmed its position as the leading tradeshow in Europe of timber products.

THe cOnFerenceS: THe added vaLue OF THe carreFOur
As far as the 16 conferences organized by the Carrefour du Bois in the Timber Techniques and Solutions Area are concerned, the variety, their international nature and the quality of the speakers, enabled all those participating to obtain answers or an insight into the questions they asked. With an attendance of an average of 100 participants. the conferences showed their importance for the visitors. This was particularly the case for the conference “Timber, Design and Eco-construction” organized by Atlanbois and the International Agency of Nantes and Saint Nazaire which addressed the adaptation of timber architecture to difference climates.

impLicaTedparTnerSThe Carrefour is also an important moment for federations, associations and organizations, partners of the show. They organize their internal or press meetings and general assemblies. In 2014 almost 30 meetings were organized.
Other important events: the French National Timber Federation, with the support of the national inter-profes-sion, France Bois Foret, used the Carrefour to launch its new commu-nication campaign concerning Home-Grown timber and, the traders’ association, Le Commerce du Bois held its general assembly on the 6th of June.

impOrTanT mOmenTS OF THe SHOwJohanna ROLLAND, the newly elected Mayor of Nantes and President of Nantes Métropole, and Maï HAEFFELIN, Vice President of the Pays de la Loire County Council, in charge of the timber industry, inaugurated the show on Thursday 5 June 2014. It was an opportunity for them to reaffirm the importance of the timber industry for the local economy.

TimBer cOnSTrucTiOn and SiTe viSiTSFor the first time, the timber construction team of Atlanbois organized within the cycle of conferences of the Timber Techniques and Solutions Area, a visit to a construction site and a timber frame building. The participants thus, had the opportunity of discovering the construction site of the International High School (Nelson Mandela) on the Ile de Nantes which covers over 25 000 m² and Bâtiment B, home of the regional timber industry, inaugurated in May 2013. The visits were followed by a visit to the show.

THe FirST " carreFOurinTernaTiOnaL du BOiS "eveninG aT BâTimenT BFor the first time, the Carrefour International du Bois organized, an evening at Bâtiment B on Thursday 5 June. An occasion for exhibitors and visitors that had not yet seen the building, to visit the regional timber industry offices. It was also the opportunity to continue discussions started on the show in a relaxed atmosphere. The inscriptions were limited to 250, which is the maximum capacity of the building. But seeing the success of this event, we will definitely be doing it again.

As in the past the Carrefour du Bois hosted numerous collective stands from different regions of France: Auvergne, Brittany, Burgundy, the Centre region, Franche Comté and Poitou Charentes.

THe viSiTOrS10 215 trade visitors (of which 70% were decision makers), came to Carrefour International du Bois 2014, the increase in foreign visitors was manifest, totally 22% coming from 74 countries.

You were numerous in stating your satisfaction concerning Carrefour 2014: the formula, “a targeted show”,“100% wood”; the size of the stands “small stands”, “good pricing”; and especially the visitors “the quality and quantity of the visitors”, “a quality show due to the visitors”, “only trade”, these were the main points emphasized. What can be improved? Notably for some was the duration of the Friday after-noon. Certain of you indicated that it was unbelievable that exhibitors dismantled their stands early Friday afternoon even though there were still important clients at the show. Certain visitors would like to increase the show to 4 days others would like to change the days to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These are all points that we will be considering in the near future.
Even though the quality of the exhibition park has greatly improved, there are still certain logistical aspects to look into; the temperature of the halls, the sinks and toilets that were not very clean.

Over the three days, the tradeshow represents the entire timber market, creating a unique business meeting for the industry. Proof of this is the number of revisits; numerous visitors spent 2 or 3 days at the show.

In France , there were: 4 press releases, 1 press conference in Paris, 1 press conference in Nantes with the presentation of the INSEE statistical figures for the Pays de la Loire region and the New Products dossier; resulting in nearly 300 articles and internet citations.
International press relations were done by Promosalons, for those countries that are covered by their services and the Carrefour du Bois directly. We have over the years developed numerous partnerships with the major European trade magazines and we also work in partnership with French Timber. This allowed us to generate 50 articles in the best known magazines :
