How to use the Storm Tide
Evacuation Maps
- Identify where your residence is located on the map.
- If your residence is coloured as red, orange, or yellowevacuation zone, you may be at risk fromstormtide flooding.
- If your residence is not coloured you are NOT in anevacuation zone and should read Cairns RegionalCouncil's advice on planning for disasters.
- If your residence is coloured identify the primary oralternative evacuation route to your pre-determinedsafer location.
- During an event, stay tuned to local ABC and/orcommercial radio station and/or Cairns Regional Council'sFacebook & Twitter sites for updates and advice onevacuations.
- Colour coding of evacuation zones has been provided tothe boundary level for properties up to 1 acre (4047m2),if several zones occur then the property is coloured tothe highest risk.
Storm Tide Evacuation Zones are modelled using geographicaldata and may not be an exact representation of what an eventmay result in.
Evacuation Zones are designed to provide an easy tounderstand method for the public to identify coastal areasthat may be affected by stormtides caused by tropical cyclonesor severe coastal storms. While every care is taken to ensurethe accuracy of this data, Cairns Regional Council makes norepresentations or warranties about its accuracy, reliability,completeness or suitability for any particular purpose anddisclaims all responsibility and all liability (includingwithout limitations, liability in negligence) for all expenses,losses, damages (including indirect or consequential damages)and costs which you might incur as a result of the data.
