Employment Engineers Without Borders, Inaugural sustainable coffee project, Uganda, August - December 2010 (Voluntary) From over 1,000 applicants I was chosen to head up an inaugural coffee project in Nkokonjeru, central Uganda. During this period I lived in rural Uganda with very basic amenities exclusive of power, running water or an operational toilet. My role included overseeing, designing and building a demonstration plot for local coffee farmers, completing surveys in rural communities, attending meetings with various NGO’s and incepting the creation of a new community coffee co-operative and the Nkokonjeru Coffee Company in which we bought and sold coffee, helping to increase profit and quality for the farmers.

Founder & Director, Reap & Sow, UK, May 2005 – 2008 Reap and Sow was a consultancy specialising the environmental, agriculture, aquaculture, food and drink sectors. Clients have included The Royal Agricultural College, Origin Coffee, Wahaca, Konstam, Cleanseas fisheries Ltd Australia, Arabica, Farmigo, chef Clodagh Mckenna and the Slow Food Movement.

Taste Curator, Slow Food Nation, San Francisco, USA, May – September 2008, temporary contract I was bought over from London after my work on the Real Food Festival to head up the Taste Pavilion at the USA’s biggest sustainable food festival, Slow Food Nation. The event attracted over 85,000 visitors, over three days. In this time, I managed 18 curators, architects and producers to oversee design and creation of 16 different pavilions from planning, logistics, research and development, menus, site management as well as build up and break down.

Festival Manager, Real Food Festival, UK, April 2007 – May 2009 I played an integral part of the creation and launch The Real Food Festival in Earls Court, London. I was hired to start developing and creating the event and my role involved all aspects of event management, from sales, sponsorship, PR, content and operations. The event was the biggest sustainable Food Festival in the UK attracting 20,000 visitors over three days and showcased nearly 500 small producers from the UK and Europe.

Business Development Manager, Constellation Wines Europe, UK, May 2006 – April 2007 As Business Development Manager for Cellar Door, the premium sector of Constellation, I negotiated new routes to market for our wines, planned various events, oversaw PR and Marketing and acted as Global Ambassador for over 36 different wine labels from Australia, USA, Chile, New Zealand, throughout the UK.

Communications Director, Tour of Britain & Team Barloworld, UK, SA & Italy, April 2003 – May 2006 I was quickly promoted from PR assistant to Communications Director to oversee a national PR campaign for the UK’s most prestigious cycling event - The Tour of Britain, for two consecutive races as well as acting as PR Director for pro cycling –team, Team Barloworld. This job involved travelling the world with my team, writing press releases, liaising with International press, strategising national marketing & advertising campaigns, selling sponsorship, negotiating contracts, being spokesperson for International brand Barloworld and organising/hosting hospitality for VIPs.
