Description When purifying wastewater using polymeric membranes, solvent contaminants can contribute to performance decrease. In this project, the stability of widely commercially used polysulfone (PSU) support in water-solvent mixtures was studied. Changes in thin films were tracked in situ by combined swelling ellipsometry (SE) and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D). This research gives an insight into PSU feasibility of application and the dynamics behind its failure as Solvent Resistant Nanofiltration (SRNF) support if not adequately modified.
