旨〕 本稿は英語教育において,目的基準準拠テス ト (

としての教師自作のクローズテス トの持つ可能性を検証したものである｡この実験にお

いて,日本人大学生を対象として英語読解力を,和訳形式によるパラグラフ要約と2種

のクローズテス トによって測定した｡その結果,両者の間にプラスの相関性がみられ

た｡特に要約テス トと多肢選択肢形式のクローズテス トの間に,高い相関がみられた｡

このことは,多肢選択肢形式のクローズテス トは読解テス トとして有効であるばかりで

なく,効果的な自学自習の方策として有効であることを示唆している｡さらに,クロー

ズテス トは音読による読解練習とともに利用すれば,外国語学習の到達目標の一つであ

る予測文法を,学習者の中にはぐくむ一助となることを示しているものと言えよう｡
