Graves - Bordeaux Château Laroche Bordeaux, 12.5% Alc. by Vol. 2015 Imported by Turquoise Life, LLC New York, N.Y. THE WINE AND THE REGION Château Laroche is located in Graves, an area in Bordeaux named for its intensely gravelly soil. Graves is the only sub-region of Bordeaux and is famed for not only red wines, but also dry white wines and sweet wines. The vineyards range from hilly to steep, and are dotted with clay and chalk. The climate is mild year round, with maritime influences moderated by a thick forest along the Atlantic coast. The well-drained and impoverished soil contributes tothe character and quality of the wines of Graves. THE STYLE With a dominance in its minerality, this wine still boasts herbaceous, ripe fruits and pure black currant. It is rich and layered with sweet tannins that balance the minerality of the wine. It boasts great acidity and a well structured finish on the palate that lingers elegantly. PAIRING NOTES Château Laroche Graves Rouge is a bold and intense wine that deserves a rich meal, such as braised lamb, filet mignon or smoked duck. This full-bodied wine also complements exotic dishes that use aromatic spices such as chicken tikka masala or panang curry.
