1/30/2009 Page 1 of 8 Dear Parents, I commented in this bulletin on January 16 about the responsibility of hiring the very best faculty that you can find. Another major responsibility is finding and replacing top notch administration. Many of you will already know that Dr Caroline Brokvam, the High School Assistant Principal, has decided to move on next school year after 6 years of service to ISM. We will miss “Dr. Brok’s” enthusiasm for learning, her professionalism and her ability to focus on what is best for the students. I would like to publicly acknowledge the great job that she has done in guiding the high school, especially the fabulous support she has given me in my transition to ISM over the last year and half. In searching for Dr. Brokvam’s replacement we had over 40 applications from around the world, including a number of internal candidates. I am pleased to announce that after an extensive and thorough process we have appointed Mr. Michael Dickinson to this position. Michael is currently the program leader for Middle School Science. He has also taught for the last two years IB Higher Level Physics in the High School. In addition Michael is a workshop leader, assistant examiner and an assistant moderator for the IB Diploma Physics program. Michael has previously taught in Vietnam, Finland, Colombia and his native England. Michael’s wife, Nadine teaches Biology and they have two elementary age children. Michael is very excited about his move to High School administration and we are equally excited to be working with him in his new role next year. This weekend’s activities begin tonight with our boy’s basketball team locked in battle with Faith Academy, in the championship final of their league. Tomorrow’s PTA sponsored Family Fun Fair is eagerly anticipated and don’t forget the Band Aid performance in the FAT tomorrow night. I would like to wish all our IASAS teams’ success at their respective second season tournaments. Go bearcats! Enjoy the weekend.
