José Enrique Alés Marnez Hospital Nuestra Señora de Sonsoles, Ávila, Spain Dr. Alés is currently Head of the Oncology Unit at Hospital Nuestra Señora de Sonsoles in Ávila, Spain. Aſter his clinical training in Hospital Puerta de Hierro in Madrid, he was a Wilmot Fellow at Strong Memorial Cancer Center, Rochester, NY, where he worked on cellular acvaon mechanisms and apoptosis in tumor models, research that connued at the Center for Molecular Biology in Madrid, Spain. In the following years he held clinical research posions in medical departments of pharmaceucal laboratories, being responsible for the design and final analysis of clinical trials in breast, lung and colorectal cancer. Later on Dr. Alés took on responsibilies as clinical researcher and director of the Clinical Research Program in Hospital Ruber Internacional in Madrid. Dr. Alés has been principal invesgator or co-invesgator in over 120 clinical trials and published original basic and clinical research arcles in peer-reviewed journal, review arcles and book chapters. He has served in the Steering Commiee of the MAP.3 trial on breast cancer chemoprevenon. Dr. Alés is also a member of the Spanish Group of Invesgaon in Breast Cancer (GEICAM), ASCO, ESMO, Ethics Commiees and other scienfic associaons. Among his main clinical and research interests are the pharmacologic prevenon of breast cancer, the manipulaon of the immune system for cancer treatment and prevenon and the use of imaging to predict and analyze the response to cancer treatments.
