    1. The Properties:First we learned the associative property of addition, thecommutative property of addition and the identity property of

addition. The associative property of addition is when you change thegrouping of a number. E.g. (2+4) + (6+8) =. You would change itso its mental math by putting the brackets around 4 and 6, andthen 8 and 2. So the problem should look this- (2+8) + (6+4) =20.The commutative property of addition is when you basically justswap the numbers around to make it easier. E.g. 4 +7 + 6 =. Youwould change it to 4 + 6 + 7 =17 because 4 and 6 are easy to addup.

The identity property of addition is when a 0 is added on toan equation. E.g. 7 + 0 + 3 =. You would ignore the 0 because the0 does nothing to your answer. The problem would look like thisusing the identity property of addition- 7 + 3 =10We then learned the associative property of multiplication, thecommutative property of multiplication and the identity property of multiplication.

The associative property of multiplication is when thebrackets of an equation are changed around to make the mathproblem easier. E.g. (4*2)*(25*5) = you would have to rearrange

the brackets so they go around 4 and 25, and 5 and 2. The proper equation would look like this- (4*25)*(2*5) =1000.

The commutative property of multiplication is when you

rearrange the numbers to make it mental math. E.g. 4*3*25 =.You would have to rearrange the numbers so you can multiply itin your head. The proper equation would look like this- 4*25*3=300

The identity property of multiplication is when a number ismultiplied by 1 in an equation. E.g. 8*1*9 =. You would just leavethe 1 out of the equation because anything multiplied by 1 is your original number. So the equation would look like this- 8*9 =722. Multi Step Problema. The income from 1992-2002 was $-1236. This is a huge Loss.I got this answer by adding $-1340, $-2459, $-872, $1137, $774and $1524.b. The average income for 1997-2002 was $-206. I got thisanswer by taking the total income for 1997-2002 and divided it by6.c.

The negative numbers on this table mean that the company lost

money that year instead of gaining it. The positive numbers arethe years that the company gained a profit.d. The average amount of money earned a year was $224. Igot this by adding the numbers from the previous data table(above) divided by 5 and got my answer.

    e. I think this company will be successful in the futurebecause they have scrambled their way out of $1236 of debt andstarted to make a profit. The numbers on the data table have

been rising, so by 2012 they will most likely be earning a lot of money. Once a company starts earning money and making aprofit then its hard to stop because they are on a roll.
