3 Please explain leadership positions and responsibilities that have prepared you for school boardgovernance.

I have been trained by the best school board trustee this district has ever had, Dr. Ewells. I havebeen involved for over 25+ years. I have held several positions in this city as well as at church.I wasthe last Dallas Council PTA president with almost all schools as members.I was trained under SCE

by Dr. Marvin Edwards. Now I am trained in SBDM as well as ESEA.

4 Please identify three specific issues that you think should be addressed in order to improve thequality of education in Dallas ISD.

    1.) Teachers2.)Building Maintance

    3.)Parental Involvement

5 If elected, what would you do to address each of these issues?

    1. Teachers teacher, therefore we must provide them with ALL the tools and RESOUCE availabe.2.Make sure the each school has the maintance staff needed to provide a safe and clean environment

for our children.3. Provide on going workshops for parents with funds provided under ESEA.

6 Do you think Dallas ISD faces a teacher morale problem? If so, what do you think are the primarycauses, and what would you do as a Trustee to improve morale?

Yes teachers do face a morale problem! Primary cause is that no one listen to the teachers. No oneask them what do they need to do the best job for our children.

I would make myself available to hear what teachers have to say campus by campus.

7 Do you think Dallas ISD teachers and principals receive effective professional development?

Yes, training is not the problem. We MUST equip each campus with the staff it needs to address the

issues on that campus. You don't train a teacher to be a nurse. You hire a nurse. You don't train ateacher to handle family issues, you hire a counselor.

13 Dallas ISD's superintendent has identified the following structural problems that negatively affectstudent achievement. Which three issues should be "top priorities" (please highlight exactlythree top priorities)? Similarly, which issues are less important? Please label at least one issue

    as "not critical".

    Not

    Critical

    Important But Not

    a Top Priority

    Top

    Priority

Teacher morale is at a long term low.

Principal evaluations are routine and meaningless.

Educators do not have access to comprehensive,

powerful technology to guide learning for each

    student.

The District's budget is not driven by instructional

    priorities.

Principals are paid the same regardless of

    performance.

Teacher evaluations are not accurate or rigorous.

There is no standard or process for identifying high

quality candidates for schools, classrooms, and central

    office positions.

Micromanaging staff is a pervasive problem and

    undercuts progress.

There is no accountability for poor customer service

(where customers are parents and students).

We are losing strong candidates because the hiring

    process sometimes takes months.

Comment:the top priority has to be the students. Teachers teach. Not Supt.,or board members!

14 Analyzing information is a fundamental Trustee responsibility. What information will you rely onto have a full understanding of board issues, and what groups will you call on for perspective

    (e.g., staff, central office, constituents)?

I must rely upon those that are directly involved in the classrooms and in the communities.

15 Please highlight three school district micromanaging pitfalls, and explain how you would avoid

    these pitfalls as a Trustee.

    !. Principle evaluation2.Hiring of principles3.Retaining teachers.
