    Cest savoir que lesdits Loys MAUCLERC et sa femme ont promis et promettent de donner et bailler laditeFranoise Le BRUNfille dudit dfunt Le BRUN et de ladite CONSEIL, ce prsente, et de son consentement,et par loi de mariage audit Loys BOULDUCqui ci-celui a promis et promet prendre femme et viable pouse leplus tt que bonnement convenablement faire se pourra, et quil sera avis entre eux, leurs parents et amis, siDieu et notre Mre Sainte glise saccordent et consentent, et ce audits biens et droits aux susditsfuturs maris

    et parties, lesquelles seront et demeureront communs entre eux selon la coutume de la ville, par note et crit deParis, pour parvenir auquel futur mariage lesdits Loys MAUCLERC et Perette CONSEIL sa femme, ont promis,et promettent de bailler et payer, auxdits futurs maris ou au porteur la somme de cinq cents cus dor sol, savoir quatre cents cus dans le jour prcdant leurs pousailles, dont trois cents cus sol en deniers comptant etcent cus sol en habits et meubles, outre les habits et linges des fille de ladite future pouse. Et cent cus aussen deniers comptant, payable dans un an du jour desdites pousailles. Le tout franchement et quitement pourtout le droit successif mobilier, immobilier et hritages appartenant ladite future pouse, tant par le trpas etsuccession dudit dfunt Ysambert Le BRUN, son pre, que de dfunte Genevive Le BRUN sa sur, et aussi detout ce qui leur pourrait compter et appartenir de tout, tant en meubles que immeubles en quelque sorte etmanire que ce soit, de tout le pass jusqu aujourdhui et duquel droit successif mobilier et immobilier, lesditsfuturs maris ont fait et font (en ces prsentes) par intercession et transport auxdits Mauclerc et sa femme,

    attendu ladite promesse suscit pour en faire et en user par eux appartenant et non, ce lesdits Mauclerc et safemme ont certifis et certifient ladite fille franche et quiescent de toutes dettes et hypothques jusquaujourdhui. Et et charge quil sera visible auxdits futurs pouxpour et pendant six ans prochains et nonaprs de reprendre la part et portion qui appartient la dite future pouse et audit droit successif par eux ci-dessus quitte audits Mauclerc et sa femme des biens et maison sise Paris, rue du March aux Poires, desditesHalles, prendre pour enseigne Le Soleil en rendant payant et remboursant par iceux futurs poux auditsMauclerc et sa femme la somme de 300 cus sol qui font partie desdits 500 cus ceux ci-dessus promis.

    Ainsi ladite Jacqueline DEBONNAIRE mre dudit futur poux a certifi et certifie icelle, futur poux franc etquitte de toutes dettes et hypothques quelconques, de tout ledit pass jusquau jour desdites pousailles. Etpartant ledit futur poux a donn et donne ladite Franoise Le BRUN sa future pouse, la somme de 166

    cus, deux tiers en douaire prfix, pour une fois payer, ou de douaire censitaire, au choix et option de laditefuture pouse lun desdits douaires, tel quil sera par elle choisi, avoir et prendre sitt et incontinent quedouaire aura lieu sur tous lesdits biens prsents et advenir dudit futur poux quil en a dcrit chargesobligations et hypothques. Le survivant desquels futurs poux aura et prendra par prciput et avant partage deses habits, armes, cheval, bagages, joyaux, et autres biens de leur communaut ce que vaudra choisir leditsurvivant, et ce rciproquement jusqu la somme de 100 cus sol, selon la prise qui en sera faite par honntes etsaines crances, ou ladite somme aux choix dudit survivant. Et a t accord que si ledit futur poux dcdeauparavant ladite future pouse, en ce cas sera au choix et option delle de prendre et accepter, ou bien de

    renoncer au droit de communaut. Et en renonant elle reprendra franchement et quittement tout ce quelle auramis et port en ladite communaut, ensemble son dit douaire et prciput, les dits que dessus. Et tout ce qui lupourra tre advenu et chu en immeubles pendant ledit mariage, soit par succession, dmarches, et autrementsans tre par elle tenue daucune dettes et hypothques cres par ledit futur poux, tant durant et constant leditfutur mariage, quauparavant celui encore qu ses dettes, elle y dt par ce et sen fut oblige. Car ainsi cpromettent, obligent, chacun en droit soi renonciations. Fait etpass aprs-midi en la maison desdits MAUCLERC et sa femme en la prsence de ladite JacquelineDEBONNAIRE, desdits PATRILLAT, DELAULNAY, Guillaume Le BRUN, DESNOTZ et GEORGES,tmoins audit contrat, lan 1595 le septime jour doctobre, et ont sign, hormis lesdites CONSEIL etDEBONNAIRE qui ont dit ne savoir signer.

    Marriage Contract of Loys BOULDUC, Merchant Spicer at the March aux Poires withFranoise Le BRUN, passed on 6 August 1595, before Master CHAZERETS.

    Were present in their honorable persons, thus-called persons Loys MAUCLERC, Merchant and Bourgeois ofParis, residing Rue St-Denis, under the ensign of la Sellette, parish of St-Eustache, and Perette CONSEIL hiswife, by him authorized, previously widow of the late Ysambert Le BRUN in her living, also MerchantBourgeois of Paris. In name and stipulate of aforementioned, having and bringing faith in this Assembly forFranoise Le BRUN, daughter of said deceased Ysambert Le BRUN and of said Perette CONSEIL, previously

    his wife, on one hand. And Loys BOULDUC, Merchant, Master Spicer in Paris, residing at Les Halles, at themarket of said Poires, in said parish of St-Eustache, son of deceased Symon BOULDUC, living MerchantDraper, residing in Senlis and Jacqueline DEBONNAIRE, previously his wife, now his widow, residing insaid Senlis, present under her name, on the other hand. In which said members of their good will, and in thepresence of each: their family and friends to this Assembly on the one hand and on the other, to know: on thepart of said Loys BOULDUC and said Jacqueline DEBONNAIRE his mother: the Honorable man ClaudePATRILLART, Bourgeois of Paris at hand and at large, Master Jacques ANGILBET Attorney at the ParliamentCourt, cousin because of his wife Jehan DELAUNAY, Merchant Bourgeois of Paris at hand and acquainted,Laurent BOULDUC, Merchant at the Palace in Paris, cousin on the paternal side, Franois GUINEPEULTMerchant Spicer, because of the hotel in which said Loys BOULDUC has remained, and Sbastien deCULEMBOURG, cousin also because of his wife of said Loys BOULDUC; and on the part of said Loys

    MAUCLERC, his wife, and of said daughter: of Guillaume Le BRUN, paternal brother, Claude DEROTZbrother because of his wife, Jacques GEORGES also brother, Genevive Le BRUN sister, and of PhilippeLANGLOIS nephew because of Franoise Le BRUN his wife, of said Franoise Le BRUN. The said GuillaumeLe BRUN and others mentioned above, similarly named Merchants and Bourgeois of Paris, have recognizedand confessed and by these present confessions are making, have made, and are doing together: contracts,agreements, promises agreed on, dowries and the following effects.

    This is to be known that said Loys MAUCLERC and his wife have promised and promise to give and donateto said Franoise Le BRUNdaughter of said deceased Le BRUN and of said CONSEIL, here present, and withconsent, and by Act of Marriage to said Loys BOULDUCwho here present promised and promises to take aswoman and viable spouse the sooner that can properly and conveniently be made, and that it will be advised

    between them, their parents and friends, if God and our Holy Mother Church agree and consent, and that to saidproperties and rights to said future spouses and parties, who will be and will remain common amongst themaccording to the custom of the city, in note and writ of Paris, and to succeed in the future marriage said LoysMAUCLERC and Perette CONSEIL his wife, have promised, and promise to donate and pay, to said futurespouses or to the bearer the sum of five hundred cusof gold sol, consisting of four hundred cusfor the dayprior to their union, including three hundred cussol in cash money and one hundred cussol in clothes andfurniture, in addition to the clothes and linens of the daughter of said future wife. And also one hundred cusincash money, payable within one year from the day of said union. All honestly and evenly for all successivefurniture, real estate and inheritance belonging to said future wife, as much from the rights and heritage of saiddeceased Ysambert Le BRUN, her father, as of Genevive Le BRUN her deceased sister, and also of everythingwhich could counting and belonging to all, both in furniture as in estates in any way and manner, of the past

    until today and successive furniture and estate, the said future spouses have made and are making (in theseterms) by intervention and transport to said Mauclerc and his wife, expecting said promise to be made and usedby them belonging or not, the said Mauclerc and his wife have certified and certify said honest daughter, and isfree of all debts and mortgages until today. And to and charge that will be visible to said future spouses forand during the coming six years and not after resuming the part and portion belonging to said future wife and to said successive right by the above-mentioned absolved of said Mauclerc and his wife of the goods andproperty laying in Paris, March aux Poires Street, of said Halles, under the ensign of Le Soleilin payingand refunding by the future spouses to said Mauclerc and his wife the sum of 300 cussolwhich are part of said500 custo those above promised.

    Thus the said Jacqueline DEBONNAIRE mother of said future husband has certified and certifies thereoffuture honest husband and clear of all debts and any mortgages, in any past until the day of such espousal.Therefore said future husband has given and gives to said Franoise Le BRUNhis future wife, the sum of 166cus, two-thirds in a fixed dowry, to pay once, or in a dowry asset, at the choice and option of said future wifeto one of the said dowries, as it will be chosen by her, to have and take as soon and rapidly as the dowry willtake place on all these said and future goods should advent from said future husband as in described chargesbonds and mortgages. The survivor to which future spouse will have and take as inheritance and before thesharing of her clothes, weapons, horse, luggage, jewels, and other goods from their unity that will be worth to

    choose by said survivor, and that conversely up to the sum of 100 cussol, according to the decision that will bemade by honest and sound claims, or said sum at the choice of the survivor. And was granted that if said futurehusband dies before said future wife, in this case will be at the choice and option of her to take and accept, oreven to waive the right of their unity. And in abandoning she would resume honestly and fairly all that shewould have brought and developed in said unity, together her said dowry and inheritance, as said as above. Andall that he will have gathered and left in properties during said marriage, either by succession, workings, andotherwise, without him being held to any debts and mortgages created by said future husband, both during andthroughout said future marriage, than even his or her previous debts, were they owed by them or were obliged.Because of thus above promise, require, and each in law so waivers. Made and passed in the house of saidMauclerc and his wife on said St-Denis Street in Paris in the year 1595, the sixth day of August afternoon, andhave signed with the exception of said CONSEIL and DEBONNAIRE, mothers of said future spouse who have

    left their marks as their usual and accustomed signs.

    The said Los BOULDUCand Franoise Le BRUNhis bride in Holy Church, from it authorized as well ascan be done and must, witnesses to the contract of marriage above and forth contained, confesses having hadand received from said Los MAUCLERC and Perette CONSEIL also witnesses to said contract, at this present,the sum of 400 cusof gold solfrom the 500 cussolpromised by said MAUCLERC and his wife to saidLos BOULDUCand Franoise Le BRUNhis bride by the said contract and for the causes according to andas it is dictated by it from and by which 400 cuspaid by said MAUCLERC and his wife to said future spousesin money and cash, present are the undersigned notaries in a fourth of cusand currency, all of good moneyfrom current trade. Los BOULDUC and Franoise Le BRUNhis bride have held and take as goods, and

    have quit and acquitted said MAUCLERC (and his wife) and all others, and even that said MAUCLERC andhis wife had promised to pay (by said contract) 100 cus in clothes and furniture, the said future spousesconfesses that they were made even in money and cash with the said 300 cussol, as (said) is for obligation andwaiver. Made and passed this afternoon in the house of said MAUCLERC and his wife in the presence of saidJacqueline DEBONNAIRE, the said PATRILLAT, DELAULNAY, Guillaume Le BRUN, DESNOTZ andGEORGES, witnesses to said contract, in the year 1595 the seventh day of October, and have signed, except thesaid CONSEIL and DEBONNAIRE who have said not knowing how to sign.

    The said Los BULDUC[sic] and Franoise Le BRUNhis wife duly authorized confesses and declare thatsince and from the fifteenth day of January 1597, they would have by said Perrette CONSEIL, previously wife,now deceased mother of the said Le BRUN(all before named) the sum of 100 cusboth in cash money as infurniture, that were left to pay from the 500 cus sol of said BOULDUC and his wife, promised by saidMAUCLERC and his deceased wife, by the marriage contract of said BOULDUC and his wife, beforedescribed, for causes contained therein, and hence have the said BOULDUC and his wife, were under ratifiedand have as agreeable the cessation and transfer by them made to said MAUCLERC and his deceased wife ofthe successive right to the said lady Le BRUNensued by the death of the said deceased Ysambert Le BRUNher father of everything to the charges according to and thus that he The enclosed said contract of whichsum of 100 cus the mentioned BOULDUC and his wife have held and take as goods and have quit andacquitted, quits and acquits, the said MAUCLERC and his deceased wife, and all others and hence made bythe said MAUCLERC to said BOULDUC and his wife the discharge that said BOULDUC had made himunder sign Made and passed in the study of undersigned notaries the year 1597 on Friday August 11,afternoon, and have signed.
