¿ A qué sonríes imperceptiblemente, bienaventurado del dolor ? ¿ A qué recuerdo, traveseando como una mariposa entre las fauces del tigre ? ¿ A qué humo fragante y sabio (aspirándolo también como un dios minúsculo) ? ¿ A qué escena dichosa de amor o cacería, narrada por las mágicas lenguas de la hoguera ? ¿ A qué remoto canto de niños o de abuelos ? ¿ A qué sombra de avestruz o de elefante suavísima pasando por tus ojos entrecerrados, trémulos ? ¿ O es la propia negrura de tu rostro de ébano absoluto, de fibra nocturna hasta el fondo, la que te hace sonreír tan finamente - como a la mujer grávida, cuando se queda sola. el misterio de su hijo ?
