Chapter 1
Article 1
For international carriage of perishable foodstuffs, equipments shall
not be designated as „insulated“, „mechanically refrigerated“, or
„heated“ equipments unless it complies with the definitions and
standards set forth in annex 1 to this agreement.
Many countries in Europe inforced this agreement also in national
laws or regualtions (a.s. France, Spain, Italy).

Chapter 1
Article 2
The Contracting Parties shall take the measures necessary to
ensure that the equipment is inspected and tested for compliance
with the said standards in conformity with the Provisions of annex 1,
appendices 1-4 to this Agreement.
Each Contracting Party shall recognize the validity of certificates of
compliance issued in conformity with annex1, appendix 1,
paragraph 4 to this Agreement by the competent authority of
another Contracting Party.

a) before the equipment is put into service
b) periodically, at least once every year
c) whenever required by the competent authority

The transport equipment must be filled with a
suitable recording instrument to monitor, at
freuquent and regular intervalls the air
temperature to which quick-frozen foodstuffs
intended for human consumption are subjected.

Checking the insulating capacity of equipment in service
This examination shall take the point of an inspection of
the equipment to determinate the following in the follwing
order:
i. the general design of the insulating sheating
ii. the method of application of insulation
iii. the nature and conditions of the wall
iv. the conditions of the insulated compartment
v. the thickness of the walls

The mechanically refrigerated equipment shall be verified
that, when the outside temperature is not lower than
+ 15 °C, the inside temperature of the equipment, which
has been previously brought to the outside temperature,
can be brought within a maximum period of 6 hours.
