L’ANNÉE DU LIÈVRE :NAISSANCE D’UNE BDExposition des illustrations et des planches de Tian

Né trois jours après la prise de Phnom Penh par les Khmers rouges en

1975, Tian n’a pas gardé de souvenirs précis de ses premières années.

Mais il a récolté le témoignage de son père pour en faire une bande

dessinée : L’Année du lièvre, qui raconte le sort de sa famille. Alors que

le 3ème volume va sortir aux éditions Gallimard, l’Institut français pré-

sente à travers une exposition l’œuvre et le cheminement artistique de

Tian, des premiers croquis jusqu’aux planches finales.

Tian donnera une conférence le mardi 15 décembre autour de son tra-

vail de reconstitution historique (voir page 40). Durant son séjour au

Cambodge, il participe également à des ateliers de bande-dessinée

organisés en partenariat avec les ONG Sipar et Phare Ponleu Selpak.

L’ANNÉE DU LIÈVRE: THE MAKING OF A GRAPHIC NOVELExhibition of Tian’s drawings and strips

Tian was born three days after the fall of Phnom Penh in 1975. From his first years, he didn’t keep any precise memories , but he collected the testimony

of his father in order to make a graphic novel. It has resulted in L’année

du lièvre, a trilogy that tells his family’s history. While the third volume of

L’année du lièvre will be released in France, the French Institute is pre-

senting an exhibition tracing the artistic journey of Tian, from the very first

sketches to the final plates.

Besides this exhibition, Tian will give a conference about his work on Tues-

day 15 December (see page 40). He will also take part in a series of work-shops organized in partnership with Ngos Sipar and Phare Ponleu Selpak.
