Informative Outline
Topic: Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOS)
General Purpose: To inform.
Specific Purpose: To inform individuals about the harsh reality of GMOS.
Thesis: Although there have been no studies done on humans to measure the effects caused by
GMOS, its in your best interest to avoid them.
I. Introduction.
A. Attention Getter: As Nobel Peace Prize Recipient, Henry Kissinger, once said, If you
control the food supply, you control the people.
B. Reason to listen: Everybody should feel the impending need to take care of themselves
and watch out over their health. With the Monsanto Company producing Bio-Tech
experiments on our food, we should have an increased awareness over what we are
ingesting and calling food.

C. Thesis Statement: Although there have been no studies done on humans to measure the
effects caused by GMOS, its in your best interest to avoid them.
D. Creditability Statement:
I have experience with shopping for and eating Organic food.
I have a 1 year old son, who since birth, has ingested and thrived on Organic food.
I have done plentiful research on Genetically Modified Organisms and Organic
food.
E.
Main Points:
Genetically Modified Organisms are plants or animals that have been genetically
engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses, or other plants and animals.
We are putting our nations (and most importantly our own) nutrition and health in the
hands of the top company in the production and distribution of the herbicide, glyphosate,
or more commonly known as Round Up.
According to Monsantos website, continuous spraying of Round Up in specially treated
fields, will no longer be harmful for human consumption, once it reaches the dinner table.
Another product mass produced by Monsanto is the Recombinant Bovine Growth
Hormone or RBGH.
One study done on the effect of mother rats fed genetically modified soy showed that
more than half of the babies born to these mothers, were born smaller and died within
three weeks.
II. Genetically Modified Organisms are genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria,
viruses or other plants and animals.
A. Conventional seeds are meant to withstand the direct application of herbicides
and/or to create an insecticide.

1. With the rise in popularity of organic food, most individuals have at least
heard of one of the following terms Organic or Non-GMO.
2. Although many of us have heard of the term, Organic, many still have not
heard of the most well-known bio-tech company, Monsanto.
a. According to Monsantos website, The continuous spraying of Round
Up in specially treated fields is no longer harmful to human consumption,
once it reaches the dinner table.
3. Agent Orange
a. Agent Orange, a powerful herbicide, was first introduced in the 1960s
during the Vietnam War, before it was taken off the market in the 1970s
for its 400,000 people it killed and the 500,000 children born with defects
as direct result from usage of this product.
Transition: Although there have been no studies done on humans to measure the effects caused
by GMOs, TheAmerican Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) believes GNOS are
unsafe.
B. The academy reported, Several animal studies indicate serious health risks
associated with GMO food, including infertility, immune problems, accelerated
aging, faulty insulin regulation and changes in the major organs as well as the
gastro-intestinal tract.
1. Studies done on mother rats fed GMO soy showed that more than half the
babies born to this mother were born smaller and died within three weeks.
Transition:Thankfully other Countries have seen past Monsantos greed and have banned theirseeds.
C. Some of those Countries include:
1. Russia, Germany, Ireland, France, Peru, India, and Thailand.

2. Next time youre at the grocery store, look around and make good decisions,
GMOS are all around.
3. The top ten list for Genetically Modified Organisms
a. Some of those on the Top Ten List include:
b. Corn, Soybean, Cotton, Sugar, Aspartame, and Zucchini.
III. Conclusion:
A. Review of Main Points:
1.
GMOS are genetically engineered.
2. Monsanto is the creator and holds the patent for many other bio-tech
experiments.
3. Studies show GMOS are harmful for ourselves and mother nature.
B. Restate Thesis: Although there have been no studies done on humans to measure
the effects caused by GMOS, its in your best interestto avoid them.
C. Closure: In conclusion, I urgently suggest you look around and continue to do
thorough research on the nutrients, or lack thereof, you put into your body. If
possible, locate the farm your food comes from. Eating healthy may be time
consuming, but if you think buying Organic food is expensive, have you priced
Cancer?
