Three Specific Areas you'd like to change, address, improveor further research and how specifically would you goabout it:

One: City Economic programs:In any City, you'll find that approximately 70% of the news

jobs are created by small businesses. This is area where athorough reveiw of Mentor's economic program is needed. It's important to begin showcasing Mentor's interest inproviding economic opportunity to small employers whomake investment in both retaining and creating new

jobs. Especially in the area of BioTech and emergingindustries that have great potential for future job growth.I am a member ofMentors Economic Committee and continue discussionwith the Director of Mentor's Economic department topromote Mentor. Specific items: (A), broadening ourmarket exposure through various technical publications.( B ), scheduled meetings with both local , regional andnational businesses. ( C), Since the Economic Developmentdepartment is the gateway to the City's commerce, I havesuccessfully worked to increase the advertising budgetfrom a low of $5,000 a year to $25,000. The result isproving successful as evidenced by by business inquires.

(D), one of the more recent discussions ( just last week )was the entry into marketing advertisement towards the20's age group to attract and retain more of thatdemographic population. A key objective of this approachis to encourage the return of our college students toMentor as the best place to start-up a business.

Two: Quality of Life , NeighborhoodsThroughout Mentor, there are manyneighborhoods with avariety of housing stocks. A priorty is to always provideand assure the families that live in those neighborhoodswith the highest level of City services. Each year during the Fall, Council meets and discussesour Capital improvement and Operating budgets. Both ofthese budgets require careful review on each and everyitem. Specifically andTo further improve on both thesebudgets, I would recommend earlier work sessions takeplace on both these important areas rather than mid-Fall. Contained in these two budgets is every aspect ofmanaging the City of Mentor. Whether it be Police andFire Protection, roadways, parks and recreation to staffingof each and every department, you'll find it in thesebudgets. Earlier meetings would be beneficial for both theCouncil and The Administration to make the necessaryadjustments and planning to improve Mentorand continue as one of America's Best One Hundred City'sin which to Live.

Three: Biweekly Council President's Report:There are two very important offices found in the day today operations of the City. One being The City Managerand the other, The Council President. In the case of TheCity Manager, Council receives a weekly report - memo

from The Manager outlining the weeks activity. Since andoften activity also takes place within the CouncilPresidents office - a report on important actions wouldgreatly benefit Council. Specifically, I encourage andrequest keeping Council informed by and from thePresident of Council which would be greatly appreciated.

In particular, it would provide a heads-up on developingissues and challenges that are coming before CityCouncil. Thereby, all of Council would be best served andbetter prepared to manage the many issues that arise fromtime to time.

Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, whyshould voters elect you? One: A combination of my experience, qualifications andfirst hand contact with the many residents of Ward 4 lendsgreat support to re-electing me as Ward 4 Councilman.During course of any period of time and for 33 years as aDental provider in Ward 4 I am fortunate to have the dayto day opportunity to speak with many residents. I get todirectly hear from the residents as to what issues, concernsand/or suggestions they may have in mind. The residentsof Ward 4 have come to know that I am always availableto hear from them. My history as Ward 4 Councilmanincludes always being accessible to the residents andresponsive to their community needs. I thoroughlyunderstand the responsibility as Councilman and fullyrespect the residents - voters of Ward 4. Throughout myterm as Councilman I have always included the inputfrom the community to reach the most beneficial decisionsfor Ward 4 and its many fine neighborhoods.
