    Attendance and Performance Procedure

    Non-Destructive Testing Students

The intensity of the training portion of your program demands full-time

attendance and application during your term at SAIT. Therefore the following has

been put into place and will be implemented effective immediately. The

    procedure is as follows:

Firstly - If you, the student, have performance or attendance issues,

including lateness, the instructor is to explain that you need to correct the

issue. This will be your one and only verbal warning by the instructor.

Secondly – If you, the student, continue to have performance or

attendance issues, including lateness, you will be sent to your program

Academic Chair. A written warning will be issued to the student. The

registrar’s office will be informed and will establish course of action.

Any hours missing in any course, regardless of the reason, will result in the student being

required to make up those hours at their own time and expense (ie: re-take the course or

    workshops).

Without attending the full 40-hours of required training in any given course, students will

have forfeited their eligibility to apply for and write their CGSB certification exams.

Upon reading, please sign that you agree to work in accordance with the rules and

regulations as laid down by the NDT Section at SAIT.

please make sure that your instructor knows right away. Do

not try to fix it yourself.

    House Rules

Welcome to the NDT Training Center at SAIT Polytechnic.

Punctuality and Absenteeism Here at SAIT, management and faculty would like all students have the best educational

experience possible. In order to achieve this, we require all students to adhere to the

    punctuality and absenteeism policy below.

Classes will start at the stated time in your timetable. Lateness in class is disruptive.

If you are late 10 minutes or more, you may be marked absent and will be asked to

wait to enter the classroom until the  next scheduled break.

Upon the 2nd late, you will be asked to see the Academic Chair to explain your

lateness. You will also be asked to not enter the classroom until the next scheduled

    break.

Each late will result in a reduction in hours and will be reflected on your academic

letter to NRCan. Depending on the number of hours missed, this may affect your

    eligibility for certification.

Perpetual lateness gives the instructor the right to ban you from your immediate

    course.

Absenteeism can sometimes not be avoided but please try to attend every class in

order to fulfill your minimum training  requirements as set out by NRCan to be eligible

    for certification.

Any time missed in any course will be the students responsibility to make up the

missed hours at their own time and expense (ie: re-take the course or

    workshops).

BehaviorYou are expected to show the requisite amount of courtesy and consideration to your

fellow students and your  instructor. Rude or disrespectful behavior could result in

the student being asked to leave the class and/or being withdrawn from the course. Veiled and implied threats will be immediately relayed to campus security, who will

call the police as a matter of policy.

ExamsAny student found cheating on an exam will automatically receive a zero. Review of

exams is carried out purely at the  discretion of the instructor, and is not an automatic

right of the student. During reviews, students are not allowed to  copy out

questions, or parts of questions, for any reason whatsoever. If any student is found

doing so, will receive a zero for the exam and the review will be terminated for thewhole class.

Exams papers must not be written upon. All papers are checked after the exam, and

for every question that is defaced, one mark will be deducted from the student ’s final

    exam mark.

Cell PhonesCell phones are not to be turned on in the classroom/lab at any time unless an

instructor is using this technology for teaching purposes.  If a student is found with a

cell phone turned on during a class (that is not utilizing this technology) the student

will be asked to leave the class. If a student has a cell phone turned on during a quiz or

exam, the student will automatically receive a zero on the test and will be required to

    see the Academic Chair.

ClassroomsFood and drinks in the classroom are a privilege which will be removed for everyone if

one student fails to keep the class tidy and clean. Clean your spills immediately and

remove empty containers when you leave.

LabsDisrespectful behaviour to the instructor, fellow students, and equipment will result

in removal from the class and/or being withdrawn from the course.
