Eng. 12. 423 (1985) This book is, without doubt, the most comprehensive treatise of both the theory and practice of slip form construction. Additionally, the book contains exhaus- tive details on various slip form systems, their com- ponents, and applications. The book not only describes the type of structures where the technique may be used, it gives an extensive list of actual examples. Addi- tionally, and perhaps this is one of the most commend- able features of the book, it gives examples of faulty workmanship, their causes, and possible remedies. The book is highly recommended to every engineer or practitioner who is either already experienced in the use of slip form techniques or is planning to undertake a slip-formed concrete project. For the first group, the book may open further horizons towards more exten- sive use of this technique; for the latter group, it should give a good description of the required planning and preparatory work. However, a word of caution: the book will not replace actual "hands-on" involvement and no engineer should embark upon a slip form project on his own, without first gaining exposure under some- body with prior experience. This book, nevertheless, contains sufficient information to allow even an un- initiated engineer to decide upon the feasibility of this technique for his next project. Can. J . Civ. Eng. 12. 423 (1985)

This book is, without doubt, the most comprehensive treatise of both the theory and practice of slip form construction.

For the first group, the book may open further horizons towards more exten- sive use of this technique; for the latter group, it should give a good description of the required planning and

preparatory work.
