About The Writer and Illustrator

LOU REED is an American musician, song-writer, author, and photographer. He is bestknown as guitarist, vocalist, and principalsongwriter of The Velvet Underground, andfor his successful solo career, which spans sev-eral decades and crosses multiple genres. Hecurrently resides in New York City with hiswife, the performance artist Laurie Anderson.

LORENZO MATTOTTI Labyrinths, Murmur,his adaptation ofDr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,and many others. Mattotti was among the Eu-ropean cartoonists introduced to an Americanaudience by RAWmagazine in the 1980s. Healso works extensively as an illustrator, and isa frequent contributor to The New Yorker. Henow lives in Paris.

This suite of songs was re-leased on 2003 on CDas The Raven (Reeds mostrecent solo studio album todate).

o Europe, were deeated. No

Red Sea parted during the years

o occupation to save them rom

unthinkable annihilation at the

hands o their ellow humans.

But even then, the Jews were not

totally abandoned. The 23,788

names on Israels Yad Vashem

roster o Righteous Among the

Nations prove that thousands

risked their lives to help save

Jews, oten complete strangers.

The lessons o Passover and o

Holocaust remembrance share

a common truth: the love o

reedom and humanity is more

powerul than prejudice and ear.
