ACTIVITY BRead the following text about Ana, a Portuguese girl
who is living in Britain
I left school when I was fifteen. I was working on Saturdays at
a hairdressers and I thought, Thats what Iwant to be. My boss said
I could finish my exams but I had a chat with my parents and they
said Do whatyou want. So I left school and got this full time job
three years ago. I work as a Junior in a salon,shampooing,
answering the phone, making appointments, cleaning up and doing
just about everything. I goto college once a week, on Wednesday.
The rest of the week I work at the salon. I like going to
collegebecause they treat you like an adult - not like a kid - and
they listen you more. Im doing a two-year-course. Ihave to study
science, computing, art, basic skills, such as English language,
geography, etc. and
hairdressing, which is the main subject. If I pass the exam at
the end, Ill get a diploma. Thats what I hope toget at the end.When
I get home after a days work, all I want to do is sit down and put
my feet up. Usually on Saturdays Idont go out. I just sit at home,
