We would like to wish you and your family a very
Merry Christmas!
We are excited to enter into the Christmas season
with all the sparkling lights, decorations, cookies,
candy, lighted trees, parades, the giving of gifts,
wonderful food, friends, family and the holiday
spirit that only seems to visit us during this time
of year. Maybe this year that Christmas spirit will
follow us into the new year—we hope so.
We look forward to a great year at BYC with all of
its upcoming activities. We hope you will partake in
these fun events. Come on down to the Club— try
our new menu and meet some of the many fasci-
nating new members who joined BYC in 2019.

By the time you are reading this, our Annual Change of Watch ceremonies have been held and a new Board is in place. Before I proceed, I would like to thank Richard Boltz, Frank Negrete and Dan Demmon for their service on the Board. They have worked hard to lead and steer the ship through some rough waters and also fair winds. Richard Boltz was our Commodore for two years and in that time we worked hard to balance budgets, engage members, plan improvements and so much more—thank you, Richard, for all your efforts on behalf of the Benicia Yacht Club. Both Frank Negrete and Dan Demmon contributed to the activities of the Club and the Board, so thanks to both of you for your support and efforts on behalf of BYC.
Our new Board consists of a couple of new faces: Andy Zinkevich, Vice Commodore; Janet Booth, Rear Commodore (formerly Director); Dena Stults (Director); and Letty Thomas (Director)—welcome to the Board. The returning Board members are: Treasurer Faye Cater, Secretary TJ Kitchen, and Directors John Garcia and Robert Cates. Richard Boltz is our new Jr. Staff Commodore. Please join me in welcoming all the members of the Board and wish them fair winds and following seas.
As the holidays are fast upon us, BYC is getting in the holiday spirit. Hopefully by the time you are reading this, we are all decorated for the Season. And we will be ready for the BYC Open House after the Benicia Tree Lighting on December 6th—please invite friends and family to enjoy cookies and hot cocoa! Oh, and of course their favorite libation from our bar!
We will be holding our annual Children’s Party on December 15th, starting at 11:00 am in the Regatta Room and of course, will enjoy our annual visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus—look forward to happy faces and of course presents!
The BYC Christmas Party will be held on Friday, December 20th, in the Regatta Room and we look forward to it being a fun evening for everyone—please plan to join in the festivities.
BYC will also celebrate New Year’s Eve—plans are in the works and you will receive information shortly on this event. It will be dinner in the Regatta Room followed by music in the Norton Lounge. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year with family and friends at the Benicia Yacht Club—look forward to seeing you there!
I want to thank all those who have volunteered their services this year in support of BYC and reach out to those who would also like to contribute to the success of our Club—from house/grounds to entertainment to cruise-ins and cruise-outs, sailing to youth sailing, it takes a village and we need your support. I would appreciate your volunteering if you can help in any way.
Finally, we have had several changes this year in our personnel, so I’d like to thank Cheyenne, Scott, Carlos, Jeannie, Lisa, Martin, Jack, Mya, Ally, Jay, Shelby, Alyssa, and Madison—thank you all for your hard work and dedication to BYC—we couldn’t do it without you, and you are truly appreciated.
I am honored to be your newest Commodore and it is my goal to continue the positive work of the Board and to continue the success of the Benicia Yacht Club—together we can make it happen.
