MULTI-PURPOSECANINE CAPABILITIES

K2 SOLUTIONS, INC. offers a variety of Handler Courses through our Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) Unit. These courses prepare handlers and canines to perform as a Law Enforcement team in tracking, criminal apprehension, article search, building/area searches, and detection; both narcotic and explosive, meeting the highest standards in the industry.

Training includes an opportunity for handlers to receive certification through any national organization, or the International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA), at the conclusion of their training. Our Law Enforcement, Military, and Sport Canine Trainers have over 100 combined years of handler, training, and instructor experience.

K2 also offers mobile teams to train handlers and canines at their home location, as well as on-site courses at our 125-acre training facility, located in Jackson Springs, NC—with access to dozens of training areas. Training includes advanced detection, tracking, bite work, muzzle fighting, advanced decoy, and e-collar conditioning.

Patrol & Criminal ApprehensionDogs and handlers are trained to national standards to comply with most up-to-date case law.

��Control work includes; verbal out, calling off a suspect, and off-leash control around the decoy.

��Canines are trained to search buildings and outdoor areas to locate and apprehend suspects while off-leash. This creates distance between officers and suspects, therefore reducing the likelihood of violent interactions and officer involved shootings.

��Handlers are put through a variety of scenarios; challenging their officer safety skill knowledge of case law, policies and procedures, and ability to deploy their K9 to prepare them for the street, prior to graduating.

Article Search��Dogs are trained to locate items s that contain

human scent and indicate its presence by lying down next to the item, preserving any evidentiary value.

Tracking & Trailing��This technique involves tracking human scent on

a track that is up to an hour old and up to 800 meters (approximately 1/2 mile) in length through an urban environment.

Detection��Canines are trained to find and alert on target

odors (explosive or narcotic).

��All canines are trained to passive alert (sit or down) on odors, reducing liability and damage.

Single-Purpose Canine Handler Course�4-week course �Detection: narcotic or explosive ��The canine handler team receives a certificate of

completion, and has the opportunity for third-party nationally accredited certification.

Dual-Purpose Canine Handler Course�5-week course �Tracking, trailing, detection: narcotic or explosive ��The canine handler team receives a certificate of

completion, and has the opportunity for third-party nationally accredited certification.

Person-Borne Canine Handler Course�8-week course ��In operational environments, the canine handler team

is able to detect and passively indicate the presence of explosive odors in both traditional single-purpose and Person-Borne search roles.

��The canine handler team receives a certificate of completion, and has the opportunity for third-party nationally accredited certification.

Train the Trainer Course��Course length dependent upon experience, designed

with the new and experienced trainer in mind��During this course, trainers will learn time-proven and

modern canine training techniques. Trainers will acquire the skills necessary to effectively take a green dog to a fully-trained, high-functioning dog and be successful in the fast-paced field of canine training.

��The canine handler team receives a certificate of completion.

Homemade Explosives (HME) Course�3-day course��Developed for handler teams to imprint the canine

on HMTD, TATP and other known HME components as well as learn the tactics, techniques and procedures that accompany HME detection.

Our HME program has a specialized exercise to rank each reagent in terms of use and accessibility by terrorists both foreign and domestic. HME components are the most accessible and most-used explosives by terrorists because they can be purchased over the counter. It’s also highly unstable with a high detonation velocity, making it an efficient, and lethal, explosive.
