Nel quadro delle rlcerche sul ruolo deglf animali trasformatori nel pro cessl dl umlficazfone sono statl studlati gli enzlmi dlgestivl dl numerosi invertebrati del suolo appartenenti a1 seguenti gruppi: Ollgocheti, Isopo- dl, Dlplopodl, Insettl e Molluschl Gasteropodl. 11 fine della rlcerca non E assolutamente enzlmologlco, nB tanto meno blochlrnico, ma escluslvamente ecologlco; pertanto si sono usate tecnlche qualitative per dimostrare la presenza o l'assenza dl un determlnato enzlma, ellmlnando contemporaneamen te qualslasi interferenza dovuta alla microflora Intestinale. Le sostanze- sagglate, carboldratl, proteine, 011 ed ester1 vegetall, sono tutte pre- senti in natura e possono qulndl rientrare, almeno teorlcamente, nella noE male dleta degll animal1 conslderatl. Per quanto rlguarda la demollzlone enzlmatlca delle varle sostanze sono dlgerltl soprattutto gll oligosacca- rid1 e gll 011 , mentre non facllmente dlgerlblll rlsultano i pollsaccari- dl, sebbene largamente dlffusl In natura. 11 gruppo dl Invertebrati che posslede una maggior quantit.3 di enziml B quello dei Gasteropodi, che sem- brano avere quindl una magglor efflclenza nel process1 di degradazione del la lettlera.
