SIMON LECLERC CHEF ASSOCIÉ DE LA SÉRIE DES CONCERTS OSM POP ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR OF THE OSM POP CONCERT SERIES

Simon Leclerc a étudié au Conservatoire de musique de Montréal et a rapidement été plongé dans divers univers musicaux : de choriste pop pour Céline Dion aux comédies musicales (Gala, Les misérables et Dracula, dont il a composé la musique), il est devenu un arrangeur et orchestrateur particulièrement couru par les artistes québécois. Réalisateur de disques, il a aussi écrit de la musique pour le cinéma, des documentaires et la télévision. Avec l’OSM, il a été responsable des concerts symphoniques donnés autour de nombreux artistes, de même que de Starmania, Notre-Dame de Paris et Starmania vs Notre-Dame de Paris. Pendant six ans, il s’est aussi rendu à Los Angeles afin d’y diriger l’orchestre de Paramount Pictures pour des séries télévisées comme Star Trek: Voyager et Star Trek: Enterprise.

En 2005, Simon Leclerc dirigeait la série de concerts symphoniques donnée par Charles Aznavour au Canada. Il est également le compositeur du Concerto pour animateur de radio et orchestre, commande de l’OSM dirigée par Kent Nagano et mettant en vedette René Homier-Roy. En 2011, il créait un spectacle déroutant, sorte d’allégorie musicale qui permettait de plonger dans son univers créatif, Les synapses de Simon Leclerc, présenté à la Cinquième Salle de la Place des Arts. Après Vincent Vallières et Isabelle Boulay, le chef retrouvait l’OSM avec Mes Aïeux et Plume Latraverse en juin 2013, de même qu’avec Cœur de pirate et Adam Cohen en octobre de cette même année. Au printemps 2014, il dirigeait l’OSM dans Coup de chapeau aux belles-sœurs. Ensuite, on l’a vu avec cet orchestre aux côtés du groupe Les Trois Accords, de Mika, de Jean-Pierre Ferland et de Florence K. À l’automne 2015, il a dirigé les concerts de Kevin Parent et Jim Cuddy, et collaboré au concert L’OSM soul. Il a terminé la saison 2015-2016 en beauté, au pupitre des trois concerts à guichets fermés avec Patrick Bruel. En septembre 2016, il orchestrait et dirigeait le concert de Roch Voisine avec Jean-François Breau et Patrick Norman. Pour la Virée classique 2017, l’OSM lui a commandé une œuvre pour quatre bassons et un contrebasson qui a été interprétée en première mondiale. Enfin, toujours à l’été 2017, Simon Leclerc était directeur musical du concert Montréal symphonique présenté au pied du mont Royal et réunissant l’OSM, l’Orchestre Métropolitain et l’Orchestre symphonique de McGill, dans le cadre du 375e anniversaire de Montréal.

Simon Leclerc completed music studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and was soon initiated to a range of musical projects. He has performed as a pop vocalist with Céline Dion, as well as being involved in musicals, both as performer and creator (Gala, Les misérables and Dracula, for which he composed the music). He has risen to become a much-sought-after arranger/orchestrator for artists on the Quebec scene, and is also a record producer. He has composed film soundtracks and music for documentaries and for television. With the OSM he has been in charge of symphonic concerts involving many artists, as well as productions of Starmania, Notre-Dame de Paris and Starmania vs Notre-Dame de Paris. He spent also six years in Los Angeles, where he conducted the Paramount Pictures Orchestra for television series such as Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise.

In 2005, Simon Leclerc led a series of symphonic concerts performed on tour in Canada by Charles Aznavour. He was commissioned by the OSM to compose the Concerto pour animateur de radio et orchestre, conducted by Kent Nagano and featuring the radio host René Homier-Roy. In 2011, he mounted a rather unusual production: a musical allegory enabling listeners to immerse themselves in his personal creative world, entitled Les synapses de Simon Leclerc and presented in the Cinquième Salle at Montréal’s Place des Arts. After conducting Vincent Vallières & Isabelle Boulay, he led the orchestra in concerts with many artists as Mes Aïeux and Plume Latraverse, Cœur de pirate, and Adam Cohen, featuring his own unique arrangement of these artists’ songs. In the spring of 2014, he led the OSM in Coup de chapeau aux belles-sœurs. Subsequently, he worked alongside the group Les Trois Accords and with Mika, Florence K, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Kevin Parent and Jim Cuddy, in addition to his work for the concert L’OSM soul. He completed the 2015-2016 season in style, at the helm of three sold-out concerts with Patrick Bruel. In September 2016, he orchestrated and conducted Roch Voisine’s concert with guests Jean-François Breau and Patrick Norman. For the 2017 edition of the Classical Spree, the OSM commissioned him to write a work for four bassoons and contrabassoon, which was given its world premiere. And finally, again in the summer of 2017, Simon Leclerc served as the Music Director of Montréal symphonique, an out-of-doors concert event at the foot of Mount Royal bringing together the OSM, the Orchestre Métropolitain, and the McGill Symphony Orchestra in a celebration of Montreal’s 375th anniversary.

VÉRONIC DICAIRE CHANTEUSE-IMITATRICE / SINGER-IMPERSONATOR

Imitatrice, chanteuse, animatrice et comédienne, Véronic DiCaire est une femme aux multiples talents et au parcours peu conventionnel. Celle qui s’est fait connaître pour ses interprétations d’une justesse inouïe et sa maîtrise des plus grandes voix de la chanson française, québécoise et américaine, impressionne, et ce, partout où elle se produit.

Canadienne francophone née à Embrun, petite communauté de l’Est ontarien, Véronic est passionnée de chant depuis son plus jeune âge. C’est à 17 ans qu’elle éblouit le jury du concours Ontario Pop et vit ensuite sa première expérience dans une comédie musicale avec le rôle de Sandy dans l’adaptation québécoise de « GREASE ».

Un premier album éponyme et folk rock la fait connaître en 2002 et lui permet de récolter deux nominations au gala de l’ADISQ et cinq trophées Trille Or au Gala de la chanson et de la musique franco-ontarienne. Elle obtient le rôle de Roxie Hart dans la production francophone « CHIGAGO », qui lui vaut une nomination aux Molières et une participation à la soirée des Césars. Son 2e album, Sans détour, lui permet de s’établir au Québec alors qu’elle participe même au gala Juste pour rire et au Grand Rire. 2008 marque un tournant alors que Céline Dion et René Angélil lui confient la première partie du spectacle « Taking Chances » au Centre Bell de Montréal. Elle part à la conquête de l’Europe, sera juge à l’émission « X Factor », fera l’Olympia de Paris douze fois ainsi que plusieurs tournées en France, en Suisse et en Belgique.

Véronic DiCaire présente « Voices » au théâtre Jubilee du Bally’s Hotel & Casino à Las Vegas en 2013 et est nommée Best Singer lors du Best of Las Vegas Awards 2014. C’est en 2015 qu’elle participe à l’émission « Danse avec les stars », alors qu’elle tient la barre de l’émission « Ici on chante » présentée sur Ici Radio-Canada Télé pour une deuxième saison en 2018, en plus de faire les premières parties de Céline Dion en Europe anglophone et en Asie.

Un nouveau spectacle pour le Québec sera présenté dès l’automne.

Véronic DiCaire is a woman of many talents: impersonator, singer, TV host, and actor, she has followed an unusual career path. She is renowned for her outstandingly accurate recreations of the greatest voices of Canada, the USA, and Europe, and her vast repertoire impresses audiences and critics everywhere she goes.

A French-Canadian from the small town of Embrun in Eastern Ontario, Véronic has been passionate about singing since her early childhood. At just 17 years of age, she completely conquered the jury at the Ontario Pop singing competition, which led to her first role in a musical production, playing the part of Sandy in a Quebecois adaptation of Grease.

With the release of her first, eponymous folk-rock album, her breakthrough came in 2002. The album earned her two nominations at the ADISQ Awards and five Trille Or trophies at the Franco-Ontarian Music Industry Awards Gala. Subsequently, she landed the role of Roxy Hart in the French-language production of Chicago, for which she received a nomination at the Molière Awards, as well as an invitation to perform at the César Awards. LA MAISON SYMPHONIQUE DE MONTRÉAL

La réalisation de la nouvelle résidence de l’OSM a été rendue possible grâce au gouvernement du Québec, qui en assumera également les coûts, dans le cadre d’un partenariat public-privé entre le ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine et Groupe immobilier Ovation, une filiale de SNC-Lavalin. L’acoustique et la scénographie de la salle portent la signature de la firme Artec Consultants Inc., dirigée pour ce projet par Tateo Nakajima. L’architecture a été confiée à un consortium constitué de Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. et Ædifica Architectes, sous la direction de Jack Diamond.

The construction of the OSM’s new home was made possible thanks to the government of Québec which will also assume its cost as part of a public-private partnership between the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine and Groupe immobilier Ovation, a subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin. The hall’s acoustics and theatre design bear the signature of the firm Artec Consultants Inc., with this project headed by Tateo Nakajima. Its architecture was entrusted to a consortium consisting of Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. and Ædifica Architects, under the direction of Jack Diamond.

LE GRAND ORGUE

PIERRE-BÉIQUE

L’orgue de la Maison symphonique de Montréal, inauguré le 28 mai 2014, a été réalisé par la maison Casavant pour le compte de l’OSM qui en est le propriétaire, avec la collaboration des architectes Diamond Schmitt + Ædifica pour sa conception visuelle. Il s’agit d’un grand orgue d’orchestre, inscrit dans les registres du facteur de Saint-Hyacinthe comme opus 3900. Il comporte 109 registres, 83 jeux, 116 rangs et 6 489 tuyaux.

Il porte le nom de Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique, en hommage au fondateur et premier directeur général de l’OSM (de 1939 à 1970). Ce mélomane engagé et gestionnaire avisé avait pris la relève de dame Antonia Nantel, épouse de monsieur Athanase David, qui agissait depuis 1934 comme secrétaire du conseil d’administration de la Société des Concerts symphoniques de Montréal, l’organisme ancêtre de l’OSM.

L’achat de cet orgue a été rendu possible par une gracieuseté de feue madame Jacqueline Desmarais qui en a assumé le coût total et a voulu ainsi perpétuer par son appellation le souvenir de l’irremplaçable contribution de monsieur Pierre Béique à la mission d’excellence de l’OSM.

The organ at Maison symphonique de Montréal, inaugurated on May 28, 2014, was designed and built on behalf of the OSM by the organ builder Casavant with the collaboration of architects Diamond Schmitt + Ædifica for its visual design, and is the Orchestra’s property. This is a large organ intended for orchestral use, and is recorded in the books of the Saint-Hyacinthe builder as Opus 3,900. It consists of 109 registers, 83 stops, 116 ranks and 6,489 pipes.

The instrument bears the name Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique, in tribute to the OSM founder and first general manager (from 1939 to 1970). An astute administrator and a committed music lover, Pierre Béique took over from Dame Antonia Nantel, wife of Mr. Athanase David, who had acted, since 1934, as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Société des Concerts symphoniques de Montréal, the forerunner of the OSM.

Purchase of this organ was made possible, courtesy of the late Mrs. Jacqueline Desmarais, who assumed the total cost and, in so doing, wished to keep alive the memory of the lasting contribution made by Mr. Pierre Béique to the OSM’s mission of excellence.
