Light CloudInternational VELUX Competition 2012
The ‘Light of Tomorrow’ project was a International student competi-
tion in 2012. The ‘Light Cloud’ project is an intervention of a myriad
of dynamics. Through its expansive footprint, a malleable membrane
acts as a cloud for transmitting light. A cartesian grid supports rect-
angular glass prisms, or pixels, that refract and diffuse sunlight. Their
transparency lets a natural lighthing in a place otherwise obscured
by the ceiling. The asymetrical and non-linear heights of the prisms
allow for various and controlled intensities of light, mimicking the
effects produced by the sky and thereby providing a comforting am-
biance.
Through an array of experimentations on the nature of light, an im-
portant amount of issues needed consideration: textures, densities
and directions. Indeed, the spatial qualities that are articulated from
the interaction between darkness and light create a richness that can
be transposed into architrectural elements

Ocean Prison: Anti-Pyramidobservation and control Jeremy Bantham’s panopticon is the quint-essential surveillance system. The sense of being constantly under observation from a single focal point is both effective and optimized. This principle was the basis of the prison project. Through the sectioning of Bantham’s design into its purest form. Thereafter, by rotating the pyramid 180 de-grees the observer is able to constantly see without being seen. The glass floor under the prisoners allows for a constant visual contact in every angle from the interior of the station.
