Czech cousine is very fatty. It is typical for the Czech people if you visit your friends to go home surfeited.

Especially old people think the full stomach means you are satisfied.

In the past people were

often poor and hungry. If you were fat, you

had a lot of food and were rich.

Czech beer is very bitter and very very caloric. It is made from hop plant and malt.

BECHEROVKA – Spirit made from Medicinal herb. Typical souvenir for tourists.

Coated Carp in flour, than in eggs and finally in breadsrumbs with potatoes salad – typical meal for Christmas Eve

KNEDLO VEPŘO ZELO – Czech dumplings with sauerkraut and meet (almost pork, sometimes duck)

SVÍČKOVÁ – sirlion cream sauce made from carrot, root parsley and celery with dumplings

Typical cakes and buscuits...

BUCHTY - This leavened cake is made from flour, yeast and eggs. It is mostly filled with sweet cottage cheese, poppy or plum butter.

TRDELNÍK – cake made from puff pastry and sprinkled with cinnamon.

GINGERBREADS – home made biscuits especially for Christmas or Easter

Czech speciality...

JITRNICE – white pudding, speciality made mostly in winter. It is from pork with spices.

BRAMBORÁK– potato pancake made from potatoes, garlic and flour.

SYREČKY – cheese with very very strong aroma (sometimes teribble aroma) but with delicious taste.
