dentraide constitue par desartistes handicaps et pour eux. Grce
leur activitartistique, une nouvelle existence socialement
gratifiantesoffre eux. LAssociation procde ldition desoeuvres par
lintermdiaire des socits ddition qui lesreproduisent sur cartes de
voeux, calendriers et autresarticles cadeaux et les
commercialisent.
3. Formed in 1956, the MFPA is an international,
for-profitassociation wholly owned and run by disabled artists
tohelp them meet their financial needs. Members paint withbrushes
held in their mouths or feet as a result of adisability sustained
at birth or through an accident orillness that prohibits them from
using their hands. The roots of the MFPA go back to 1956, when
ErichStegmann, a polio-stricken mouth painter, gathered asmall band
of disabled artists from eight Europeancountries. Their ultimate
goal was to make their livingthrough their artistic efforts, and to
obtain a sense of worksecurity that until then had eluded
them.
4. A Associao dos Pintores com a Boca e osPs, fundada em 1956
por Erich Stegmann, temprovidenciado, por mais de 50 anos, uma
vidaindependente para artistas que no tm o uso de suasmos. Todos os
membros dessa sociedade internacionalso incapacitados de pintar
usando suas mos, e todosso beneficiados com a satisfao em poder
ganhar seuprprio sustento, independente de caridade. A Pintores com
a Boca e os Ps no uma associaobeneficente, mas sim uma sociedade de
membrosimportantes. Todos os seus integrantes aprenderam adesenhar
e pintar sustentando o pincel com a boca oucom os dedos dos ps, por
terem perdido o uso dasmos.

se sentent de cette faon reconnus commedes membres actifs de la
Socit, capables de se crerune existence. LAssociation assure
galement laformation de jeunes talents auxquels elle verse
desbourses dtudes. A constituio da sociedade, no ano de 1956,
deuoportunidade a todos os seus membros de se manteremcom a venda
de pinturas em forma de cartes,calendrios e outros artigos. A
principal preocupao incentivar pessoas com essas
deficincias,proporcionando-lhes uma bolsa de estudos at o
seuaperfeioamento na pintura.
6. Coupling his creative abilities with business
acumen,Stegmann established the MFPA as a co-operativeorganization
that reproduces its artists work mainly in theform of cards,
calendars and books. From the small group he gathered for the
inauguralmeeting of the Association of Mouth and Foot
PaintingArtists, the group has now grown to representapproximately
750 members, from over 75 countriesaround the world.
