TO REMEMBER

REMEMBER verb + ING means remembering that you did something; that you did something in the past and maybe you still see in the eye of the mind.• I clearly remember locking the door. (mi ricordo il momento in cui l'ho fatto). REMEMBER TO + verb means that you remember that you did something; that you are going to do something, that you remembered to do it, or like a recommendation.• Remember to do it tonight! Don't worry, I'll remember to do it.• Hey, I remembered to do it last night. (mi sono ricordato di farlo).

Difference between remind and remember

Remind means to remember to someone (to do something) and also means bring to mindRemember means to remember something

Remind me to buy the eggs (ricordaMI di comprare le uova) Remeber to buy the eggs (ricordaTI di comprare le uova)

That film reminds me of you (quel film mi ricorda te) I remember watching that film (mi ricordo di aver visto quel film)

Talking to grandpa

Nicholas saw The King's speech that is about a George VI's famous speech and the grandpa remembers that when it happened he was 7.In this period the war was beginning and Nicholas asks the grandpa how was the life during the war and the grandpa tells that it was a scary period because London was heavly bombed.When the bombings started he used the underground railway station like a shelter but then he and his sister were evacuated, then they stayed with a family in the countryside.He felt so exited because it was the first time he was away from home alone. Before the war the grandpa didn't go to school but he tells Nicholas that he was happy.
