Source: UNFPA 2014 Procurement Statistics (compared to 56 million CYP in 2013, ) This decrease in CYP is related to a few things - not only our budget being a bit lower, but also the method mix that we provided. We bought more items with low CYP provision (combined pills, emergency pills, injectables), and less items with high CYP provision (male condoms, IUDs, implants). In part due to those impacts, our average cost per CYP increased to 3.26 (from 2.91 in 2013, a 12% increase). (This is evidence that – in effect – people can manipulate metrics based on the methods supported, though the method mix variance does not result from intentional manipulation).
