Point de départ

• Logiciel libre / open source !

• Sont connus : • les modèles d'affaires.

• les licences.

• les outils collaboratifs,

• les bonnes pratiques,

• ...

• Mozilla Firefox.

• Linux.

• Eclipse.

• Red Hat Linux.

• Android.

• MySQL

• OpenERP / Odoo.

• ...

« Open source has won »

• « The survey reports that 78 percent of its respondents are now running their businesses with open source software, and two-thirds

are building software for their customers that’s based on open source software. More significant, the percentage of respondents

actually participating in open source projects has increased from 50 percent to 64 percent, and 88 percent say they expect to contribute

to projects within the next three years. »

(Simon Phipps, sur InfoWorld, à propos de « 2015 Future of Open Source Survey Results » par Black Duck Software)

5

De l'open source à l'open source innovation

• Extension du modèle open source : • Open content.• Open data.• Open cloud.• Open hardware.

• Généralisation : open source innovation.

• Exemple intégré : OpenEnergyMonitor.

6

Open (source) hardware ?

• Ère des pionniers (jusque ~2005) : • Premières communautés (ex. : opencores.org).• Premiers projets finalisés (ex. : Gaisler LEON).

• Boum d’Arduino (> 2005).• Open Hardware Summit.

• Première édition en 2010.• Définition du concept OSH.

7

Open Source Hardware (OSHW) Definition 1.0 (1/3)

• 1. Documentation

• The hardware must be released with documentation including design files, and must allow modification and distribution of the design files.

• 2. Scope

• The documentation for the hardware must clearly specify what portion of the design, if not all, is being released under the license.

• 3. Necessary Software

• If the licensed design requires software, the interfaces must be sufficiently documented or the necessary software must be released under an OSI-approved open source license.

• 4. Derived Works

• The license shall allow modifications and derived works, and shall allow them to be distributed under the same terms as the license of the original work.

8

Open Source Hardware (OSHW) Definition 1.0 (2/3)

• 5. Free redistribution

• The license shall not restrict any party from selling or giving away the project documentation.

• 6. Attribution

• The license may require derived documents, and copyright notices associated with devices, to provide attribution to the licensors when distributing design files, manufactured products, and/or derivatives thereof.

• 7. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups

• The license must not discriminate against any person or group of persons.

• 8. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor

• The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the work (including manufactured hardware) in a specific field of endeavor.

9

Open Source Hardware (OSHW) Definition 1.0 (3/3)

• 9. Distribution of License

• The rights granted by the license must apply to all to whom the work is redistributed without the need for execution of an additional license by those parties.

• 10. License Must Not Be Specific to a Product

• The rights granted by the license must not depend on the licensed work being part of a particular product.

• 11. License Must Not Restrict Other Hardware or Software

• The license must not place restrictions on other items that are aggregated with the licensed work but not derivative of it.

• 12. License Must Be Technology-Neutral

• No provision of the license may be predicated on any individual technology, specific part or component, material, or style of interface or use thereof.

10

Intérêt pour les entrepreneurs ?

• Opportunités :

• Documentation du matériel.

• Accès à des technologies.

• Accès à des communautés.

• Nouveaux terrains vierges.

• ...

• Nouveautés à maîtriser :

• Modèles d'affaires OSH.

• Licences OSH.

• Rapport à la technologie et aux communautés.

• Consommateur → acteur.

• ...

• Remarque : approches hybrides.

• Exemples : clauses NC, terminaux « hackables »,...

11

Modèles d'affaires

12

Licences

• Licences utilisées : • Licences de logiciels open source.

• Ex. : BSD, LGPL, GPL,...

• Licences Creative Commons.• Ex. : CC-BY, CC-BY-SA,...

15

Exemple : Apertus Axiom (1/2)

16

Exemple : Apertus Axiom (2/2)

17

Exemple : Wikispeed

• Projet communautaire.

• Initié par un coach Agile (SCRUM) : Joe Justice.

• Première version réalisée en 3 mois.

• Concept d'Extreme Manufacturing.

• Conception modulaire.

18

Exemple : OSVehicule

• Projet de quadricyle open source...

• Mené par une entreprise commerciale.

• Publication du design sous licence CC-BY-SA.

• Modèle de double licence (TABBY vs Urban TABBY).

• Framework open source.

• Services (sur mesure).

• Vente (en kit).

• Concept de « micro-factory ».

19

Exemple : OpenXC

• Plate-forme OpenXC.

• Exemple : « Traffic Tamer App Challenge » (animation).

20

Exemple : OpenReflex

• Interprétation de la clause NC : « It is commercial use if you plan to: pay a professional to make it for you / sell the design or resultant product ».→ rémunération des designers (si pas DIY).

23

Exemple : Hexayurt

« The Hexayurt is a refugee shelter system based on work done at the Rocky Mountain Institute. It uses an approach based on "autonomous building" to provide not just a shelter, but a comprehensive family support unit which includes drinking water

purification, composting toilets, fuel-efficient stoves and solar electric lighting. »

• Première version dans le domaine public.

• Nombreuses variantes.

• Exemple d'OSAT (Open Source Appropriate Technology).

« Appropriate technology (AT) is technology that is designed with special consideration to the context

of its use - including environmental, ethical, cultural, social, political, and economical aspects

of the community it is intended for. »

24

27

Merci pour votre attention.
