LE NOUVEAU RIESLING «S.V.V.»

Since our Family has been owning 40 ha of vineyards in Alsace, it is the first time in 2009 that Pierre decided to rigorously select some of the best parcels of our very old vineyards in Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé.

These two villages are well reputed for their «marno-calcaire» soils (marl and limestone) for years and are known to be great locations for top and refined Rieslings. Riesling grapes develop a great complexity, a cristalline fruit and an elegant, precise, vibrant acidity.

2009 is a great «solar» vintage in Alsace. Pierre and his team in the vineyard succeeded to anticipate and avoid surcharge in the vines. All the 2009 wines have a wonderful ripe acidity thanks to their devotion to our vineyards despite the heat. Very complex Riesling with a lot of dry extracts in 2009.

NB: 2009 is very different from 2003. 2003 was very hot but also very dry!

The wine starts to open very nicely right now, August 2012. It is richer that a Riesling Reserve, viscous but fresh and well balanced. What a great mouthfill!

This Riesling is a little bit less strict and laser like than a Reserve Riesling, so it does not need food, but if you wish to pair it with a dish, salmon, tuna, white meats, pork dishes, cream, etc... will be very nice companions.

Don’t be in a hurry, you can keep it starting now for 10 more years at least.
