NEW INITIATIVE

SEABED SURVEY DATA MODEL

• Initiated by Shell and Woodside in 2006

• Perform workgroup among E&P companies

• To provide a standard for the offshore seabed survey data

deliverables from survey contractors.

• To define a GIS data model for seabed survey

(hydrographical, shallow geophysical and geotechnical) data

interpretation in Geodatabase to satisfy GIS query,

presentation and data exchange purposes.

• Data updating to master database.

• Increases data management effort for both clients &

contractors.

• Makes it difficult to seamlessly integrate data.

• Makes it difficult to share data between joint venture

partners.

WHAT IS SSDM AND BENEFIT

• 2009: Received a presentation on SSDM from Shell Berhad.

• 2010: Training and overlook SSDM implementation and

application at Shell Office, Miri.

• 2010: Internal discussion regarding SSDM implementation in

PCSB.

• 2010: Joins as technical committee for SSDM OGP.

• 2010: Encourage contractor to submit data in GIS format.

• 2011: Add in SSDM requirement as essential criteria in SOW for

new contract.

• 2012: Include SSDM into corporate GIS data model.

• 2012: Requirement to convert old data into SSDM format.
