Éclairage
Light has always been an essential element in human civiliza-
tion. Evolution in its creation, control and use has meant that the
lighting of our surroundings has improved while its impact on the
environment has decreased.
At the ROS Iluminación R&D&I Department we have been working
for years on the principle of getting more for less.
Lighting is not enough. Solving spaces.
Why

consommation considérable d’énergie, a

Solar energy, particularly, is becoming more and more important. In Europe leading producer of electricity from this kind of energy, there are more and more solar power plants being cons-tructed, and this boom is also spreading over the American and Asian continents. The discus-sion on the need for energy sources other than fossil fuels has created a general awareness
awareness about respect for the environment.
The outdoor lighting sector has also been involved in this growth. In this way, ROS as lighting manufacturer has taken part in this feeling of awareness about the increasing demand for solutions based on PV energy by developing its range of solar spotlights. In addition, the industrial beginnings of the ROS brand, linked to the metallurgical industry, an
activity that involves considerable energy expenditure, have helped us developa special awareness about energy consump-tions and savings in different industrial proces-ses, and that is why ROS has felt particularlyattracted by this market segment.

Acid gel monoblock maintenance free
due to the presence of gelled electrolyte.
GEL batteries for stationary use, characterized
by its long duration. The presence of the elec-
trolyte in gelled state makes that no main-
tenance is required, so these batteries
are specially suitable for battery solar photovol-
r.
The charge controller is designed to be used in pho-
tovoltaic system gel acid battery with 24V voltage and
dimming lantern. The system actively monitors the
output current , providing up to 10A of charge current
equivalent to 240W for 24V battery (12V feasible also
as main voltage). It also makes an active control of the
photovoltaic panel and battery consumption to protect
against overload and prolonged use without ending a
deep charge equalization charge.
Dimmer Light Control function allows the luminaire
automatically turn on at dusk to run for a minimum
of 6 hours and up to 13h. To optimize energy while
avoiding excessive sizing installation, the consump-tion is reduced to 75 % or 50 % in winter depending
on the state of battery. In fact , the controller has a
very complete working programme which optimizes
battery charging and as well as operating schedules
adapted according to the season.

Reference calculations for several
remarkable latitudes, considering
three days of autonomy.
Calculating the battery capacity has been conside-
red from a consumptioner simulation with the fo-
llowing requirements:
> 3 nights autonomy
>
> Depth of discharge at the end of the third day lower than 60%,
that is, always keeping the batteries 40% at least.
> The choice of 60% as maximum depth of discharge is explained
by searching a careful balance between a high number of cycles
to extend the battery life as much as possible as weel as a redu-
ced measuring.
> It has been considered null energy capture during the 3 days of
autonomy.
Working setup profile for the charge controller in winter mode
with initial profile corresponding to the most unfavorable profile.
Sizing criterion for modules has made possible to capture in one
day the energy consumption of two days considering a working
cluded in this factor the expected losses. Due to compatibility with
panel.
The module tilt considered is the one that optimizes the average
annual value of daily peak solar hours. Dat source to decide the tilt
has been PVGIS with Climate database SAF-PVGIS.

it is intended.
Materials commonly used:
- Cast Iron
- Cast Aluminium
- Galvanized Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Extruded Aluminium
In the pre-design stage of any support we con-
duct Þ nite element strength tests in order to
ensure the most problematic nodes.

After making the moulds, the previous trial is
validated on our test benches with the Þ rst pro-
totype.
The machining of each of the parts ensures
perfect alignment of the parts and guarantees
perfect assembly thereof.
Our design-manufacturing process allows us to
build supports for a speciÞ c application requi-
ring higher strength, such as catenary supports
with a speciÞ c design, banners, canopies, etc.
To ensure the high performance of our supports
outdoors, we manufacture them with two Þ nis-
hing processes: one for coastal areas with a
high level of corrosiveness, such as areas with
high salinity, which by a complex system of me-
chanical stripping and various coats of paint,
allows us to obtain maximum rust protection,
which, combined with optimum adhesion, en-
sures 15 years with minimum maintenance.
The application of two-component polyuretha-
ne paint allows us to ensure minimum colour
degradation over those 15 years.
Another Þ nishing process is designed for less
aggressive areas, less affected by saline envi-
ronments. This permits less vigorous processes
while still achieving very good rust protection.
In this case the application of two-component
polyurethane paint also allows us to ensure mi-
nimum colour degradation over time.
