DESCRIPTION

The circular economy is a generic term for an industrial economy that is, by design or intention, restorative and in which material flows are of two types: -biological nutrients, designed to reenter the biosphere safely, and -technical nutrients, which are designed to circulate at high quality without entering the biosphere.

•  Waste is Food

Waste does not exist… the biological and technical components (nutrients) of a product are designed by intention to fit within a materials continuous cycle, designed for disassembly and re-purposing.

The biological nutrients are non-toxic and can be simply

composted. Technical nutrients – polymers, alloys and other man-made

materials are designed to be used again safely with minimal energy.

•  Diversity is strength

Modularity, versatility and adaptiveness are to be prioritized in an uncertain and fast evolving world.

Diverse systems, with many connections and scales are

more resilient in the face of external shocks, than systems built simply for efficiency. They are effective!

•  Energy must come from renewable sources

As in life, any system should ultimately aim to run on ‘current sunshine’ and generate quality energy through renewable sources.

•  Systems thinking The ability to understand how things influence and adds

value to one another within a whole.

Heerema Marine Constructors:

ZC© Zachariasse Consulting 2013

The project began with the redevelopment of an old 11.000 m2 office building. Vacant for 10 years, polluted with asbestos, the building has been demolished with maximum re-use of its materials within the new project and outside. The removal of this building and the careful planning and human-centered design of the new project will lead not only to an increase in value of its surroundings in economic and aesthetic terms, but will contribute massively to an increased level of safety for both pedestrians and road users.

The Modular Design Process

§  Following Engineering and Design Team sign off of the module designs and specifications by a client’s design team, fabrication of the structural CFS modules commences.

§  Also following component sign off by the design team, the commencement begins of procurement of materials and components ready for fit out in accordance with the Futureform Building System© Standard Processes

§  The modules are lined and insulated, Internal fixtures, plumbing and electrical installations are completed

§  External windows are fitted. Decorations & finishing's are completed

§  All off site factory testing is completed and certified
