Te gen yon gwo koulèv ki konn peche anpil.
Roodkia
Il y avait une grosse couleuvre qui chassait beaucoup. There was a big snake that hunted a lot.
Chak lè li grangou, li toujou al peche.
Stanley
À chaque fois qu’il avait faim, il partait toujours à la chasse.
Every time he was hungry, he always went hunting.
Lè l ap peche, li konn jwenn zandolit, ravèt. Li konn jwenn poul tou.
Joselène
En chassant, il trouvait des lézards et des cafards. Il trouvait parfois des poules aussi. While hunting, he would find lizards and cockroaches. He would find chickens as well.
Yon lè, li te tèlman grangou, li kite nich li, l al peche.
Flobens
Une fois, il avait tellement faim, il quitta son nid et partit à la chasse.
One time, he was so hungry, he left his nest to hunt.
Pandan l ap peche konsa, li jwenn yon poul ki kouve.

Pendant qu’il chassait, il trouva une poule qui couvait ses œufs.
While he was hunting, he found a chicken incubating her eggs.
Poul la te kouve sis ze. Yo te prèske kale.

La poule avait pondu six œufs qui étaient sur le point d’éclore.
The chicken had laid six eggs. They were about to hatch.
Pandan poul la wè koulèv la, li vole kite nich la.
Rosederline
Quand la poule aperçût la couleuvre, elle s’envola et laissa son nid.
When the chicken saw the snake, she flew up and left her nest.
Koulèv la menm bwè tout ze yo. Aprè sa, li kouche dèyè yon chouk bwa. Alors la couleuvre goba tous les œufs. Ensuite elle se coucha derrière la souche d’un arbre.
The snake ate all of the eggs. After that he laid behind a tree stump.

Poul la panse koulèv la te ale, li retounen nan nich la.
Flobens
La poule pensa que la couleuvre était partie, et elle retourna à son nid.
The chicken thought that the snake had left, so she returned to her nest.
Pandan poul la sou nich la, koulèv la file tou dousman. Li pran poul la nan tèt.
Pendant que la poule était sur son nid, le serpent se glissa doucement. Il attrapa la poule par la tête.
While the chicken was in the nest, the snake slithered slowly. He took the chicken by the head.
Poul la koke nan gòj li.

La poule se coinça dans sa gorge. The chicken got caught in his throat.
Se konsa koulèv sa a te sispann peche.
Et c’est ainsi que cette couleuvre arrêta de chasser. And that is how the snake stopped hunting.
