A Message from Fr. David and Fr. Mason:
This weekend we celebrate the 3rd Sunday of Lent.
We also have the First Scrutiny for those preparing for Bap-tism. There are three scrutinies over the next three Sundays and they are directed at those here with us who were Catechumens, but became the “Elect” at the beginning of Lent. The scrutinies are meant to uncover, then heal all that is weak or sinful in our hearts, and strengthen all that is good and strong within us. We celebrate the scrutinies to deliver the Elect from the power of sin and Satan, but we can all benefit from them. The scrutinies teach the Elect about the mystery of sin, from which we all long to be delivered. The First Scrutiny asks God to fill our spirit with Christ the Redeemer, who is the living water. In the first reading we are told that the Israelites because of their thirst, had hardened their hearts against God. God, through Moses, gives them water to quench their thirst. Then in the Gospel Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus describes her life and her sins, then offers her the water of eternal life. During this Lent, we are reminded of our baptism and we are given another opportunity to cleanse ourselves in the living waters of Christ.

We want everyone to return to Mass, and to feel safe doing so. And I would like to thank everyone for your gracious cooperation with the COVID-19 regulations and protocols we are following: • Masks are required to attend Mass. • Please wash/sanitize your hands. • Please respect each other’s personal space • Please don’t leave anything in the pews as you leave.
At the Saturday 4pm and the Sunday 7am Masses every other pew on the right side of the church is blocked off, please reserve these pews for the people who feel they need more space and don’t want to sit close to other people. ______________________________________________ And a reminder for Holy Communion:
• Unless the extraordinary minister distributes to the side sections, everyone should proceed down the main aisle and approach the sanctuary from the center.
• And then beginning in the center, line up standing side-by-side around the sanctuary, standing as close to the bottom step as you can, and the priest, deacon, or minister will come to you. The process allows you time to remove your mask and still reverently receive the Blessed Sacrament without feeling rushed.
• Family groups may stand/kneel right next to each other. We should be able to fit 5-6 people at a time.
• After you receive and have replaced your mask, please return to your pew from the side aisle. As soon as a spot is vacated the next person should immediately fill that spot.
If you desire to receive on the tongue, please line up on the left (east) side and the priest, or minister, will gladly distribute. Due to health conditions/restrictions, some of our ministers will not be distributing on the tongue; they will distribute on the right (west) side.

Stop in and Light a Candle in the Church
Candles are lit for prayer intentions. To "light a candle for someone" indicates one's intention to say a prayer for another person, and the candle symbolizes that prayer. Thank you.

Next Sunday is Laetare Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Lent, which takes its name from the Latin word and begins the entrance antiphon (introit) for the Mass - Laetare Jerusalem. Laetare means rejoice, and this Sunday is marked by a relaxation of the penitential character of the Lenten season. On this Sunday, we look with expectation to the great Solemnity of Easter for which we have been preparing ourselves as a Church. Anticipation of the joy of Easter, Laetare Sunday is meant to give us hope and encouragement as we slowly progress towards the Paschal Feast.
