IN-HOME CAREGIVER EDUCATION & SUPPORT

This Program is a free service designed for people cur-
rently caring for family members, & loved ones.
A Registered Nurse first meets with the caregiver in the
home to conduct an initial assessment. Based on the as-
sessment, a teaching plan is prepared. The plan identifies
the needs of the caregiver and will enable caregivers to
identify and develop goals for learning skills necessary to
provide care.
The caregiver may receive a limited number of home
visits from the following disciplines:
Physical Therapist
Speech Therapist
Occupational Therapist
Registered Dietician
*A Licensed Clinical Social Worker is also available to
offer short-term counseling to the caregiver for stress
management
The caregiver must be:
· Unpaid & eighteen years of age or older.
· He/she must be actively engaged in the recipient’s
care.
The care-recipient must be:

er.

The reading for December is Man’s Search for
Meaning by Viktor Frankl. Viktor Frankl was an
Austrian Jewish psychotherapist who remained in
Austria as World War II approached to care for his
parents. Arrested and imprisoned by the Nazis, he
was sent first to Auschwitz, then to other camps,
where he endured a harrowing and unspeakable
experience. In the camps, he observed those who
killed, as well as those who were not killed, but
survived. From a review, “The thought of suicide
was entertained by nearly everyone, if only for a
brief time. It was born of the hopelessness of the
situation, the constant danger of death looming
over us daily and hourly, and the closeness of the
deaths suffered by many of the others.” So, why
did some survive? Did they choose to survive? The
survivors seemed to have meaning in their lives, in
spite of their impossible conditions.
Copies of this short book are available from
BCCLS. Please join us as we discuss this book on
Friday December 18. (The last Friday in December
is Christmas Day.) During this pandemic, we are
meeting remotely via Zoom. As always, our aim is
improve our understanding of our faith.
Father Joe is looking for a “steward” who is
an experienced grant writer to assist in secur-
ing grants for St. A’s.
Please contact- [email protected] if
interested.
Dear Friends,
I’m hoping and praying that you all had a
blessed and safe Thanksgiving holiday. My day
began with our parish Thanksgiving Mass and I
was delighted to be part of it. It was truly a
beautiful celebration and one of many times
throughout the year in which to see Saint
Anastasia at our best!
As the holy season of Advent begins and
ushering in the Christmas holiday season I share
this reflection/thought. Just last year we were
hearing from psychologists giving us advice on
“how to survive the holidays” in light of family
dinners, gatherings, and celebrations. How
times have changed?! The family meals and
potential heated conversations we tolerated last
year we now yearn for this year in light of the
pandemic.
Let’s please make the most of our holiday season
this year by appreciating those in the inner
circles of our lives, families and friends and
cherish every second we have with them.
Peace, blessings and fraternal regards,
Rev. Joseph A. D’Amico
Queridos amigos,
Paz, bendiciones y saludos fraternos,
Rev. Joseph A. D’Amico
