José Miguel Moreno est, sans aucun doute, le plusgrand spécialiste espagnol des instrumentshistoriques à cordes pincées. Concertiste, chercheur,constructeur, collectionneur, cofondateur de Glossa,Moreno est depuis 30 ans, un emblème pourplusieurs générations de guitaristes et luthistes dumonde entier. Glossa publia deux de sesenregistrements, déjà légendaires, La GuitarraEspañola (1536-1836) et La Guitarra Española(1818-1918), dans des éditions épuisées, que nousrécupérons à présent dans un disque double.

Jouant des instruments construits par LourdesUncilla et par lui-même, Moreno redonne vie à desrépertoires fondamentaux de l’histoire de la guitare,allant des vihuelistes Narváez, Milán et Mudarra,puis des guitaristes Francisco Guerau, Santiago deMurcia et Gaspar Sanz, jusqu’aux partitionsromantiques de Fernando Sor ou Johann KasparMertz et celles des grands maîtres postromantiquesTárrega et Llobet. Et c’est avec une musicalitéinfinie que Moreno nous guide à travers lescompositions les plus représentatives de quatresiècles de guitare espagnole.

Cette édition spéciale est aussi le début d’une étapedifférente de collaboration de José Miguel Morenoà la maison de disque qu’il fonda, avec de nouvellesœuvres qui seront publiées à partir de cet automne.

Für Glossa spielte er zwei seinerbereits legendären Programme ein: La GuitarraEspañola (1536-1836) und La Guitarra Española(1818-1918). Diese wurden kürzlich aus demProgramm genommen, erscheinen jetzt aber alsDoppel-CD wieder.

Moreno benutzt eine ganze Reihe von Instrumenten,die entweder von Lourdes Uncilla oder aber von ihmselbst gebaut wurden. Sein Ziel ist es, demwesentlichen Repertoire aus der langen Geschichteder spanischen Gitarre neues Leben einzuhauchen,wie es die Vihuelisten Narváez, Milán und Mudarrahinterließen, wie es später z.B. von Francisco Guerau,Santiago de Murcia und Gaspar Sanz komponiertwurde, und in der Folgezeit auch in den romantischenPartituren eines Fernando Sor oder Johann KasparMertz zu finden war. Tárrega und Llobet, die großenpostromantischen Meister, bilden den Abschlussdieses Überblicks, der mit unendlicher Musikalitätanhand der repräsentativsten Werke durch vierJahrhunderte spanischer Gitarrenmusik führt.

Diese Sonderedition bildet außerdem denAusgangspunkt einer neuerlichen Zusammenarbeitzwischen Moreno und dem Label, dessen Mitgründerer ist: Es sind einige neue Einspielungen geplant,die ab Herbst dieses Jahres herauskommen werden.
