Framework defined by: A Memorandum of Understanding signed between SFE and the Lao government SFE regulations 4. SFE : Service Fraternel d’Entraide The SFE seeks to continue the work of the Swiss evangelical mission which worked in Laos between 1902 and 1975. Having established itself as independent NGO in 1998, the SFE is able to carry out its mission of service whilst still maintaining a close link with the churches in Europe from which it stems, and to express their concern for evangelism and unity between the churches, without favoring any particular denomination. The current mission of the SFE is to be a living example of the gospel in a real and tangible way as it serves the country, alongside its population and its authorities. The SFE wishes its work to reflect the Gospel, lived out in day to day life, by the quality of the professional work of its representatives, by the strength of relationships - not only between the expatriates, but also with the Laotians, and finally through personal testimony. 5. 5. Project Overview:

The overall objective of this project is optimize food security and water access of the people living in the target villages through training in crop and livestock production and better water management.

6. Key activity areas: he/she is expected

General project management:• to plan and implement all project related activities such as trainings for

the village volunteers and the villagers in crop and livestock production• Set up trials on SFE’s farm, in order to test and introduce new crops and

livestock production • to participate in all evaluation activities such as needs assessments and

surveys

To assist the project manager for supervision, coaching and appropriate training of nationally recruited staff

Administration / Communication / Coordination:• To facilitate collaboration with the local authorities such as the department of agriculture of the province

and the districts • To support the project manager in the administration work and finance management of the project• To participate in the planning and design of future projects in the country

7. Supervision required:

Project manager, Executive director

8. Number of people supervised:

Nationally recruited employees in the project (about 10 people)

9. Skills, Education, and Experience required:

• Certificate/degree in agriculture/agronomy• At least one year working experience• Flexibility to work and live in remote villages under very simple living conditions• Good knowledge of written and spoken English • Mastering of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)

10. SFE standard working requirements for the field

• Working experience in a relevant field • Committed Christians• Commitment to the SFE values (vision and witness)• Skills in training for adult education• Experience in monitoring and evaluation of training programs • Excellent communication skills• Capacity to work in remote area and to live in precarious conditions• Capacity to work in an intercultural context• Capacity to work with a multicultural team• High motivation and willingness to be in continuous progress, humility

11. Benefits

• Support: The candidate has to find a part of his support through personal fund raising. A part of his support could come for example from governmental agencies like CFI in Germany or the DDC for Switzerland.

• The SFE ensures that the following expenses are covered :o Pension contribution, unemployment contribution, health insurance contribution, repatriation fees,

specific insurances, etc… o Installation costso Children’s installation expenses, school fees

• Briefing in Europe before departure• SFE organizes a three month intensive Lao course at arrival in Laos with intercultural introduction and

initiation to the SFE and its operating system. • Transportation in country required by the activity is covered by SFE• Return flights to and from the country program is covered by SFE.• SFE organizes a spiritual retreat every year for expatriate staff in Laos.• Twenty days of local vacation per year of service in Laos.• For a three year employment contract, a two months leave in the country of origin is accorded after two

years (flight is covered by SFE)
