Positioning and connection

Positioning1.Placetheapplianceinawell-ventilatedhumidity-freeroom.2.Donotobstructtherearfangrills.Thecompressorandcondensergiveoffheatandrequiregoodventilationtooperatecorrectlyandsaveenergy.

3.Ensuretheapplianceisawayfromanysourcesofheat(directsunlight,electricstove,etc.).

Electrical connectionsAftertheappliancehasbeentransported,carefullyplaceitverticallyandwaitatleast3hoursbeforeconnectingittotheelectricitymains.Beforeinsertingtheplugintotheelectricalsocketensurethefollowing:• Theapplianceisearthedandtheplugiscompliantwiththe

law.• Thesocketcanwithstandthemaximumpowerofthe

appliance,whichisindicatedonthedataplatelocatedinsidethefreezer(e.g.150W).

• Thevoltageisintherangeofvaluesindicatedonthedataplatelocatedinsidethefreezer(e.g.220-240V).

• Thesocketiscompatiblewiththeplugoftheappliance.Ifthesocketisincompatiblewiththeplug,askanauthorisedtechnicianto replace it (see Assistance).Donotuseextensioncordsormultiplesockets.

! Oncetheappliancehasbeeninstalled,thepowersupplycableandtheelectricalsocketmustbeeasilyaccessible.! Thecablemustnotbebentorcompressed.! Thecablemustbecheckedregularlyandreplacedbyauthorisedtechniciansonly(seeAssistance).! The manufacturer declines any liability should these safety measures not be observed.

Start-up and useStarting the appliance

! Before starting the appliance, follow the installation instructions (see Installation).

! Beforeconnectingtheappliance,cleanthecompartmentsandaccessorieswellwithlukewarmwaterandbicarbonate.

! Theappliancecomeswithamotorprotectioncontrolsystemwhichmakesthecompressorstartapproximately8minutesafterbeingswitchedon.Thecompressoralsostartseachtime

thepowersupplyiscutoffwhethervoluntarilyorinvoluntarily(blackout).

1.InserttheplugintothesocketandmakesurethattheTEMPERATUREindicatorlightilluminates.Ifthetemperatureindicatorlightdoesn’tilluminate,presstheON/OFFbutton.

2.SettheTEMPERATUREindicatorlightstoanaveragevalue.

Using the freezer to its full potential•UsetheTEMPERATURECONTROLbuttontosetthetemperaturevalue. Werecommend,however,amediumposition.•Donotre-freezefoodthatisdefrostingorthathasalreadybeendefrosted.Thesefoodsmustbecookedandeaten(within24hours).•Freshfoodthatneedstobefrozenmustnotcomeintocontactwithfoodthathasalreadybeendefrosted.FreshfoodmustbestoredintheFREEZERandSTORAGEcompartment.•Donotplaceglassbottleswhichcontainliquids,andwhicharecorkedorhermeticallysealedinthefreezerbecausetheycouldbreak.•Themaximumquantityoffoodthatmaybefrozendailyisindicatedontheplatecontainingthetechnicalpropertieslocatedwithinthefreezer(forexample:Kg/24h:4).•Tofreeze(ifthefreezerisalreadyoperating):-forsmallquantitieswhicharelessthanthoseindicatedonthedataplate,presstherapidfreezingQUICKFREEZEbutton(correspondingindicatorlightilluminates),insertthefoodandclosethedoor.Thefunctionisdisabledautomaticallyafter24hours.•Inordertoobtainagreateramountofspaceinthefreezercompartment,youmayremovethebins(exceptthelowestbinandthespecialCOOLCAREZONEbin(ifexists),whichhasanadjustabletemperature)andplacethefooddirectlyontothesuppliedrack. ! Donotopenthedoorduringfreezing.

!Ifthereisapowercutormalfunction,donotopenthefreezerdoor.Thiswillhelpmaintainthetemperatureinsidethefreezer,ensuringthatfoodsareconservedforatleast9-14hours.

Ice3 ice trayThefactthattheyaresituatedonthetoppartofthefreezerdrawersensuresgreatercleanliness:theicenolongercomesintocontactwiththefoodplacedinsidethefreezercompartment;furthermore,thedrippingofthewaterduringfillingisavoided(alidtocoveruptheholeafterfillingwithwaterisalsoprovided).

1. Pulloutthetraybypushingitup.Checkthatthetrayisompletelyemptyandfillitwithwaterthroughtheopeningprovided.

2. Takecarenottoexceedthelevelindicated(MAXWATERLEVEL).Excesswaterpreventstheicecubesfromdispensing(ifthishappens,waitfortheicetomeltandemptythetray).

3. Turnthetray90°:duetotheconnectedcompartmentseachmouldfillswithwater(see diagram).

• Theappliancemustnotbeinstalledoutdoors,evenincoveredareas.Itisextremelydangeroustoleavetheapplianceexposedtorainandstorms.

• Donottouchtheappliancewithbarefeetorwithwetormoisthandsandfeet.

• WARNING:donotdamagetherefrigerantcircuit.• Donottouchtheinternalcoolingelements: thiscouldcause

Maintenance and careSwitching the appliance off

Duringcleaningandmaintenanceitisnecessarytodisconnecttheappliancefromtheelectricitysupply:1.PresstheON/OFFbutton.2.Pulltheplugoutofthesocket.

!Ifthisprocedureisnotfollowed,thealarmmaysound.Thisalarmdoesnotindicateamalfunction.Torestorenormaloperation,andthensetagaintothedesiredvalue.Todisconnecttheappliance,followpoint1and2.

Cleaning the appliance• Theexternalandinternalparts,aswellastherubberseals

maybecleanedusingaspongethathasbeensoakedinlukewarmwaterandbicarbonateofsodaorneutralsoap.Donotusesolvents,abrasiveproducts,bleachorammonia.

• Theremovableaccessoriesmaybesoakedinwarmwaterandsoapordishwashingliquid.Rinseanddrythemcarefully.

• Thebackoftheappliancemaycollectdustwhichcanberemovedbydelicatelyusingthehoseofavacuumcleanersetonmediumpower.Theappliancemustbeswitchedoffandtheplugmustbepulledoutbeforecleaningtheappliance.

Avoiding mould and unpleasant odours• Theapplianceismanufacturedwithhygienicmaterialswhich

areodourfree.Inordertomaintainanodourfreerefrigeratorandtopreventtheformationofstains,foodmustalwaysbecoveredorsealedproperly.

• Ifyouwanttoswitchtheapplianceoffforanextendedperiodoftime,cleantheinsideandleavethedoorsopen.

• Observelocalenvironmentalstandardswhendisposingpackagingmaterialforrecyclingpurposes.

• TheEuropeanDirective2002/96/EConWasteElectricalandElectronicEquipment(WEEE),requiresthatoldhouseholdelectricalappliancesmustnotbedisposedofinthenormalunsortedmunicipalwastestream.Oldappliancesmustbecollectedseparatelyinordertooptimisetherecoveryandrecyclingofthematerialstheycontainandreducetheimpactonhumanhealthandtheenvironment.Thecrossedout“wheeledbin”symbolontheproductremindsyouofyourobligation,thatwhenyoudisposeoftheapplianceitmustbeseparatelycollected.Consumersshouldcontacttheirlocalauthorityorretailerforinformationconcerningthecorrectdisposaloftheiroldappliance.

Respecting and conserving the environment

• Installtheapplianceinafreshandwell-ventilatedroom.Ensurethatitisprotectedfromdirectsunlightanddonotplaceitnearheatsources.

• Trytoavoidkeepingthedooropenforlongperiodsoropeningthedoortoofrequentlyinordertoconserveenergy.

• Donotfilltheappliancewithtoomuchfood:coldairmustcirculatefreelyforfoodtobepreservedproperly.Ifcirculationisimpeded,thecompressorwillworkcontinuously.

• Donotplacehotfooddirectlyintotherefrigerator.Theinternaltemperaturewillincreaseandforcethecompressortoworkharderandwillconsumemoreenergy.

• Regularlycheckthedoorsealsandwipecleantoensuretheyarefreeofdebrisandtopreventcoldairfromescaping(see Maintenance).

TroubleshootingIftheappliancedoesnotwork,beforecallingforAssistance(seeAssistance),checkforasolutionfromthefollowinglist.

The TEMPERATURE indicator light does not illuminates•Theplughasnotbeeninsertedintotheelectricalsocket,ornot

farenoughtomakecontact,orthereisnopowerinthehouse.

The motor does not start.• The appliance comeswith amotor protection control (see

Start-up and use).

The buzzer sounds at regular intervals.• Theappliancedoorhasbeenleftopenforlongerthan2

minutes.Thebuzzerwillstopsoundingwhenyoushutthedoor.

The motor runs continuously.• TheQUICKFREEZEbuttonhasbeenpressed:theSUPER

FREEZEindicatorlightison(seeDescription).• Theappliancehasbeeninstalledbetweencabinetsthat

vibrateandmakenoise.• Theinternalrefrigerantmakesaslightnoiseevenwhenthe

compressorisoff.Thisisnotadefect,itisnormal.

The appliance makes a lot of noise.• Theappliancehasnotbeeninstalledonalevelsurface(see

Installation).• Theappliancehasbeeninstalledbetweencabinetsthat
