Steve Ryan, Head Coach Steve Ryan has a 142-39 career record for a .781 winning percentage in 15 seasons with the Mustangs to make him the most suc-cessful head football coach in Morningside history.
Ryan, who has led the Mustangs to 13 consecu-tive NAIA National Playoff appearances, has the record for career victories at Morningside and his winning percentage is the highest victory rate in school history. Ryan was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and American Foot-ball Monthly 2012 NAIA National Coach of the Year after he guided the Mustangs to their greatest season in school history. Morningside posted a 13-1 record and appeared in its first-ever national championship football game. The Mustangs finished the regular season undefeat-ed at 10-0, won their second consecutive Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) champion-ship, and made their ninth consecutive post-season appearance in the NAIA Championship Series. He led the Mustangs to Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) championships in 2005, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. His teams have advanced past the first round of the NAIA Championship Series 11 times in the last 13 years, including an appear-ance in the 2012 NAIA National Championship Game and semifinal berths in 2005 and 2013, 2014, and 2015. Ryan collected GPAC Coach of the Year honors in 2004, 2005, 2011, 2012, and 2015. He received AFCA NAIA Region 4 Coach of the Year recognition in 2005, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 and was the 2004 NAIA Foot-ball.net National Coach of the Year.

High School Skills Camp: The Morningside Mustang Football Camp is a skills teaching camp that is designed to give each athlete a solid foundation in the football fundamentals to excel at his position. Led by Coach Steve Ryan and his staff, each player will receive hands on instruction as he partic-ipates in drills. He will also be tested in 3 specific drills: 40 yard dash, Pro-Agility, and Broad Jump. As a camper you will receive the same expert coaching that each Mustang player receives. Registration will begin at 12:15 pm at Elwood Olsen Stadium Workout Gear Required: -Tennis Shoes -Cleats -Shorts & T-shirt -Shoulder Pads & Jersey -Helmet
High School Team Camp: The Morningside Mustang Football Team Camp is an excellent way to get a jump on the competition. The camp consists of Inside Run, Skelly, and situational team periods of-ficiated by Morningside Staff! There will be individual offensive and defen-sive skills periods that will be coached by the Morningside Coaching staff, giving you and your players an opportunity to pick up new drills and hone technique. Individual team time will be worked into the camp as well so you can have time to implement and refine your scheme in a one on one basis! This is a shells camp with no full contact drills. All cross over sessions will feature a high and hard tempo with a quick whistle to reduce the risk of injury.
Mustang High School Team Camp July 24th-28th—5 sessions—(9am-12) Team picks 3 sessions to attend Grades 9-12 $80 per camper Where? All camps will be held on the campus of Morning-side College at Elwood-Olsen Stadium. The stadi-um has a synthetic surface called FieldTurf. Com-mon molded or studded cleats are recommended. Classroom instruction or rainy days will be held in the Hindman-Hobbs Center.
