This mechanism also works for other transition-metal oxides!
• KTO is polar • Ta is a 5d transition metal element • Large direct band gap (~4.2 eV) • Large bulk spin-orbit � so~0.47 eV • � so is comparable to EF of the 2DEG and larger than the energy level spacing
