Dr. Anna Vanesyan
Born in Yerevan, Armenia to a family of musicians, Dr. Anna Vanesyan (maiden name
Budaghyan) began her piano studies at the age of five. She studied and graduated from
Tchaikovsky Special Music School for Gifted Children with a Gold Medal for academic
excellence.
Anna holds both BA and MA in Piano Performance, Accompaniment and Piano
Teaching Honors degrees from Yerevan Komitas State Music Conservatory
(http://www.conservatory.am/en/). She also completed her Post Graduate degree in
Piano Performance.
Since 1993 Anna Vanesyan has been working as a performer, accompanist and
pedagogue at various teaching levels from music schools to the Yerevan State
Conservatory as an associate professor and was heard in performances of chamber
music and as vocal/instrumental accompanist.
From 2006 to 2009, as a recipient of a prestigious fellowship from the US government,
Anna was completing her Doctoral program in Piano Performance at BSU School of
Music, Indiana, USA with Chamber Music/Accompanying as the secondary
emphasis. She was studying with well-known music professors Dr. James Helton (piano
performance) and Dr. Lory Rhoden (piano pedagogy), and working in the studio of a
distinguished percussion professor Dr. E. Mueller, as a collaborative pianist.
During her studies in the US, she was regularly invited to perform at festivals, adjudicate
various competitions and auditions, conduct workshops and master classes. She was
honored to perform a world premier of a piano reduction of Flute Concerto written by
American composer Don Freund at the Festival of New Music, organized at Ball State
University, Muncie, IN, USA.
14
Currently, Anna Vanesyan resides in Toronto, ON, Canada. She is the founder & artistic
director of Arts & MusiCom Educational Academy (https://www.artsandmusicom.ca/).

During the last five years, Anna Vanesyan completed extensive work as the literature
editor of many publications about distinguished Armenian musicians. As of now, four
publications — three monographs and one book, were published.
Dr. Jolán Kovács
Equally a master in classical piano and violin, Jolán was a double scholarship recipient
at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal where she studied as a young child for
nearly ten years. Her piano teachers included Dorothy Morton, Anton Kuerti, Raoul
Sosa, and Manahem Pressler. She studied violin with Eleonora Turovsky, Raymond
Dessaints, Denise Lupien, Tom Williams and Gerard Kantajrjian.
As an award-winning performer in many provincial and national competitions on both
instruments, Jolán discovered that she had a secondary passion for teaching. After
completed a performance degree at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University,
Jolán continued her studies at McGill obtaining a PhD in Music Education Research and
has many publications to her name.
With over 30 years of teaching experience, Jolán is an in-demand music educator who
successfully prepares her students for music careers and is currently on faculty at the
Schulich School of Music of McGill University. She often serves as an adjudicator in
music festivals and music exams.
Since 1996, Jolán is the Co-Founder and Project Coordinator of KoSA Music – an
international rown music education events company which hosts workshops and music
festival world-wide.
