Detainee raveled rom TunisiatoMazzarrone,Sicily, Italy(IT), in 1986and worked n a vineyarduntil the end of 1987. He travelednext to Milan, IT,planning to continue his education. Due to financial difficulties, he became nvolved insellingand using llegal drugs. Detaineewas arrestedn 1988andagain n 1991on drug-relatedcharges. He returned toMazzarrone at the end of 1991and stayed or a year,when hebecamemore religious by praying and reading he Koran and other Islamic literature.Detainee eturned o Milan in the middle of 1993 andbeganattending he Islamic CulturalInstitute (ICD. At that time, Shaykh Anwar Shabanwas the leaderof the mosqueandfrequentlyspokeabout ihad in Bosnia.
