Joshua Rager

Le pianiste, arrangeur, compositeur et professeur Josh Rager est domicilié à Montréal. Il a joué et enregistré avec plusieurs artistes de jazz reconnus, dont Ingrid Jensen, Walt Weiskopf, Donny McCaslin, Joe Morrello, Pat Labarbera, Kevin Dean, Ranee Lee et Dawn Tyler Watson. En 2005, il a été sélectionné pour le Prix du Festival international de jazz de Montréal. En 2007, il a fait une tournée en Amérique du Nord, en Europe et au Japon avec l’étoile montante Nikki Yanofsky, et a participé à son premier DVD/CD sélectionné pour deux prix Juno. En 2008, l’Union Européenne de Radio-Télévision lui a commandé une suite jazz pour deux pianos intitulée « Menuet and Duo »; l’œuvre a été créée à Montréal à la Salle Pollack et radiodiffusée mondialement. La même année, Josh a enregistré Time and Again sur étiquette Effendi, salué par la critique nationale au pays et aussi sélectionné parmi les dix meilleurs albums de 2008 par le critique de jazz Peter Hum. Josh Rager est l’élève de Fred Hersch.

Dave Watts

En 1992, Dave Watts, originaire de Calgary en Alberta, vient étudier à l’Université McGill de Montréal. Depuis, cette ville est son port d’attache. En plus de collaborer avec certains des meilleurs musiciens de jazz au Canada, notamment Jeff Johnston, Greg Ameriault, Julie Lamontagne, Joel Miller, Bernard Primeau, Hugh Fraser, PJ Perry, il a fait des tournées au Canada, en France, au Mexique et en Asie. En tant que sideman, il a joué sur 11 albums d’artistes comme Bruno Pelletier, Dorothy Berryman, Bernard Primeau, George Evans et Julie Lamontagne.

Ces collaborations lui valent une nomination pour un prix Juno et lui rapportent deux prix Opus. Il a récemment terminé un projet du Conseil des Arts du Canada à New York où il a étudié avec le légendaire bassiste Rufus Reid et avec Johannes Weidenmuller. Pendant sa tournée au Québec avec Bruno Pelletier et le « GroszOrchestre », Dave a complété sa maîtrise en interprétation jazz à l’Université McGill. Son premier album « Will it Rain? » vient de paraître sur étiquette Effendi Jazz.

John Fraboni

Né à North Bay, Ontario, John Fraboni commence sa carrière professionnelle à l’âge de 17 ans. Il a vécu et travaillé pendant un certain nombre d’années à La Nouvelle-Orléans, à New York et à Toronto. Aujourd’hui, il vit à Montréal où il demeure actif en tant que musicien professionnel. En qualité de batteur de jazz, M. Fraboni a joué et enregistré avec une liste impressionnante de musiciens de renommée mondiale. Cette liste comprend des artistes de renom comme Ellis Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Mark Turner, Adrian Vedady, Daniel Thouin, Steve et Greg Amireault, Yannick Rieu, Nicolas Payton, Kenny Wheeler, Chucho Valdes, Pat Labarbera, Don Thompson, Roddy Elias, Geoff Lapp, Terry Lukisky, Steve Wallace, Lorne Lofsky et Ron Seguin. M. Fraboni détient un baccalauréat en musique de l’Université McGill et une maîtrise en musique de la Manhattan School of Music. Il est aussi récipiendaire de prix en arts de la scène décernés par le Conseil des Arts du Canada, le Conseil des arts de l’Ontario, le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, le Banff Center for the Arts, l’Université McGill, la Manhattan School of Music, l’International House New York ainsi que de l’Académie canadienne des arts et des sciences de l’enregistrement (prix Juno).

Joshua Rager

Josh is a pianist, arranger, composer, and teacher based in Montreal. He has performed and recorded with several well-known jazz artists including Ingrid Jensen, Walt Weiskopf, Donny McCaslin, Joe Morrello, Pat LaBarbera, Kevin Dean, Ranee Lee, and Dawn Tyler Watson. In 2005 he was nominated for the Prix du Festival at the Montreal International Jazz festival. In 2007 he toured North America, Europe, and Japan with the rising young singer Nikki Yanofsky, appearing also on her debut DVD/CD release that was nominated for 2 Juno awards. In 2008 he received a commission from The European Broadcasting Union to compose a jazz suite for two pianos entitled “Menuet and Duo” which was premiered in Montreal at Pollack Hall and broadcast internationally. Also

that year Josh released a new CD «Time and Again» on Effendi Records. Receiving critical praise in reviews across the country it was also short-listed by jazz critic Peter Hum as one of the top 10 albums of 2008. Currently Josh is a student of Fred Hersch.

Dave Watts

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dave moved to Montreal in 1992 to attend McGill University and has called Montreal home ever since. He has collaborated with many of Canada’s top jazz musicians including Jeff Johnston, Greg Ameriault, Julie Lamontagne, Joel Miller, Bernard Primeau, Hugh Fraser, PJ Perry, and has toured Canada, France, Mexico and Asia. With these groups he has also been nominated for a Juno and has won two Opus Awards. He recently completed a Canada Council project to study with the legendary bassist Rufus Reid and with Johannes Weidenmuller in New York. While touring Quebec with Bruno Pelletier and the “GroszOrchestre,” Dave also recently completed his Masters in Jazz Performance at McGill University and has released his debut album «Will it Rain?»on the Effendi Jazz Label.

John Fraboni

Mr. Fraboni holds a Bachelor of Music from McGill University and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He is also the recipient of performing arts awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, Les Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Banff Center for the Arts, McGill University, the Manhattan School of Music, International House New York, as well as the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Juno award).
