Editorial SFMRB Spring Questionnaires T he Surface Finishing Market Research Board (SFMRB) is a joint effort funded by the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society (AESF), the Metal Finishing Suppliers' Association (MFSA), and the National Association of Metal Finishers (NAMF). Its purpose is to gather statistical information on the finishing industry. The board will be conducting a survey of finishing shops this Spring. If your company is selected to participate, please complete and return the questionnaire as an aid to both yourself and the industry. The uses of the information gathered are diverse. For finishers they include telling your representatives in Congress how many voters there are in our industry and advising your bank why it should lend to someone in finishing. The opportunities to benchmark are obvious. Included will be a series of questions to permit an outlook on the economic status of the industry to be prepared. Results will be compiled and a summary presentation made during SUP/FIN '97 in Detroit. A written report will also be available at that time. As chairman of the SFMRB I urge your cooperation. Please respond to the SFMRB questionnaires being sent out this month.
