    Mr.Bangliu Zhao (General Chairman) is Chief Engineer of CNPC Exploration & Production Co. and a Professor Level Senior Engineer. He graduated from Changchun Geology Institute while majoring in applied geophysics. He was with Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting (BGP), CNPC and was engaged in the research and software development of seismic acquisition techniques. He excelled at the research and optimization of complex surface seismic acquisition and its technology development facilities. He has more than twenty-year working experience in geophysics and is currently engaged in the technical management of geophysical prospecting. He has made great contributions to advancing the geophysical technology in various complex surface areas in China including the carbonate reservoir, complex water, desert and volcanic rocks, etc. He has published many papers and four books in geophysical techniques.

    Mr.Yalin Li (General Chairman) is the vice general manager of Tarim oilfield company, CNPC, mainly engaged in developing seismic explorations technology. He graduated from Chengdu University of Technology as a Ph.D. Before joining Tarim oilfield company, Dr.Li was the general manager of Southwest Geophysical Prospecting Branch, BGP INC., CNPC., dedicated in research and application of mountainous complex oil and gas seismic exploration in long haul. He has made great contributions to the advancement of seismic technology in oil and gas exploration in mountainous complex areas, and improvement of the performance of mountain oil and gas exploration. He has developed a mountainous complex oil ang gas seismic exploration software, that is GeoMountain, which integrates all applications of acquisition, processing and interpretation in one. Due to his hard work, seismic exploration technology series, such as mountainuos seismic acquisition technology, high-steep complex structural imaging, high-steep complex structural interpretation technology, complex reservoir prediction and oil and gas reservoir charaterization technology, have been developed and improved. He won 13 awards at provincial and ministerial level for scientific and technological progress, 1 second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, and 15 national invention patents. In recent years, he has focused on developing new seismic exploration methods and techniques.

    Dr. Xianhuai Zhu

    Dr. Xianhuai Zhu (Technical Co-Chair) has more than 30 years of both oil and service company experience. After receiving his PhD degree in geosciences from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1990, he worked at Anadarko (formerly UPR) in Fort Worth for six years, PGS in Houston as Manager of Reservoir Imaging for six years, Fusion Petroleum Technology as VP Seismic Imaging for four years and ConocoPhillips as Team Lead of Land Seismic and Acquisition Research for ten years. In 2016 Dr. Zhu founded Forland Geophysical Services Company (FGS) in Houston, developing and applying advanced technologies for land, shallow-water and OBN seismic data acquisition, imaging and interpretation. Dr. Zhu started his career from a field seismic crew in SINOPEC and worked for SINOPEC Geophysical Research Institute (SGRI) in Nanjing for eight years. He received a B.S. degree in geophysics from China University of Petroleum. From 1985-1986 he was a visiting scientist at Cornell University in Ithaca, USA. Dr. Zhu received a Reginald Fessenden Award from SEG in 2012 for his pioneering work on turning-ray tomography and tomostatics, and a Life Membership Award from SEG in 2018. In 1999 he received the Best Paper Award from SEG on “Recent advances of multi-component processing”. Dr. Zhu served as a Director-at-Large in the SEG board of directors from 2014-2017 and the 1st Vice President of Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH) from 2017-2018. He was the President of Chinese American Petroleum Association (CAPA) in 2012.

    Mr. Shouli Qu (General Chairman) is born in Rongcheng of Shandong Province. Mr. Qu is Chief Scientist at Sinopec and is also the president of Sinopec Geophysical Research Institute. Mr. Qu, a professor-level senior engineer, graduated from China University of Petroleum major in geophysical exploration in 1982 and received a PhD from Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. He has been working on the research and management of geophysical prospecting for petroleum for many years. His research interests include High Resolution Seismic, Full 3D Anisotropic Seismic, Reservoir and Fracture Characterization, as well as Shale Gas Sweet Spot Prediction. In these areas, Mr. Qu has made a lot of featured achievements, including a 2nd-Grade National Technical Progress Award. He is the author of quite a series of academic papers and books.

    Prof. Gerard Schuster (Technical Co-Chair) is currently a Professor of Geophysics at King Abdullah University Science and Technology (KAUST) and an adjunct Professor of Geophysics at University of Utah. He was the founder and director of the Utah Tomography and Modeling/Migration consortium from 1987 to 2009, and is now the co-director and founder of the Center for Fluid Modeling and Seismic Imaging at KAUST. Dr. Schuster helped pioneer seismic interferometry and its practical applications in applied geophysics, through his active research program and through his extensive publications, including his book "Seismic Interferometry" (Cambridge Press, 2009). He also has extensive experience in developing innovative migration and inversion methods for both exploration and earthquake seismology.Gerard has an MS (1982) and a PhD (1984) from Columbia University and was a postdoctoral researcher there from 1984-1985. From 1985 to 2009 he was a professor of Geophysics at University of Utah. He left Utah to start his current position as Professor of Geophysics at KAUST in 2009. He received a number of teaching and research awards while at University of Utah. He was editor of Geophysics from 2004-2005 and was awarded SEG's Virgil Kauffman gold medal in 2010 for his work in seismic interferometry.

    Prof. Xuri Huang

    Prof. Xuri Huang (Technical Co-Chair) obtained his PhD (1996) and MS (1994) in reservoir engineering from University of Tulsa. He got his EMAB from Pekin University, 2015. He graduated from the University of Petroleum (PU), China with a BS in applied geophysics in 1985, then worked in an integration research team of the University of Petroleum for seven years. Xuri worked for WesternGeco from 1996 to 2001 in the areas of 4D, seismic interpretation and reservoir characterization. Currently, he is a professor in Southwest Petroleum University and is the president of SUNRISE where he is focusing on tools to close the loop between reservoir engineering and geophysics, geomodeling and seismic inversion etc. Xuri also worked on Oil and Gas property development using his proprietary technologies combined with conventional and modern tools. Xuri is a member of the SPE and the SEG and has served as a committee member for SPE/SEG/AAPG joint 4D and reservoir surveillance workshop 2006, 2008, 2012, committee coordinator 2001 SEG Reservoir Geophysical Symposium,Shenzhen, Technical Chair for SEG 2017 Carbonate Reservoir Workshop, Chengdu, committee member for CGS/SEG conference 2017 Qingdao. He has published more than 80 papers in SPE and SEG conferences and journals, and he was anSPE Distinguished Lecturer for the 2009-2010 series, an SEG Honorary Lecturer in 2014 and an excellent lecturer for China Petroleum Society 2016. Xuri has conducted training sessions for Petrobras and other companies (including CNPC, SINOPEC, CNOOC and Woodside) in close-the-loop technology and new seismic inversion and interpretation techniques. He served as a session chair for SPE, SEG annual meeting many times.

    Ms. Furong Wu (Technical Co-Chair) is the Party Secretary and deputy dean of the Southwest Institute of Geophysical Exploration, BGP., CNPC. She is mainly engaged in the development of seismic exploration technology now. She has graduated from Chengdu University of Technology with a master's degree. She has dedicated herself to the research and application of mountain seismic technology in long run, and played important role in the field of mountainous seismic exploration, carbonate rock and microseismic monitoring etc. She has won 8 awards at provincial and ministerial level for scientific and technological progress and 1 second prize of the National Technological Invention Award.

    Mr. Xiaobin Zhang

    张晓斌 先生

    Mr.Xiaobin Zhang (Technical Co-chair) received his B.S. (1991) degree from the Southwest Petroleum University and M.S. (2003) degree from Chengdu University of Technology. His career began as a geophysicist in geological survey department of Sichuan Petroleum Administration in 1991, where he engaged in research and management on seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation in mountainous areas. His achievements include innovations in mountain wide line exploration, swath 3D exploration, high density and wide azimuth 3D exploration, which has significantly improved the accuracy of seismic imaging in complex mountainous areas and has been applied in piedmont areas of Sichuan Basin, Tarim Basin, Jungar Basin and Qaidam Basin. In 2014, he focused on the geophysical research of shale gas in mountainous areas of southern China and set up a geophysical integrated solution on shale gas exploration.

    Samuel Gray, received a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Denver in 1978. He joined the oil and gas industry in 1982, at Amoco’s research lab in Tulsa, OK. In 1994, he transferred to Amoco Canada in Calgary, where he became acquainted with Foothills seismic acquisition and imaging. After BP acquired Amoco in 1999, he moved to Veritas, which was later acquired by CGG. He retired from CGG in 2016. His main interests over his career were seismic imaging, modeling, and velocity estimation, and they have lately expanded to include the use of seismic data in reservoir characterization. He has published many papers, some of which were recognized with Best Paper awards (Geophysics, The Leading Edge, SEG annual meeting Best Presentation). He was the SEG Distinguished Lecturer in 2012, and received the Reginald Fessenden Award and the Maurice Ewing Medal from the SEG.

    Francisco Ortigosa is Director of Geoscience Technology at Repsol. Francisco has dedicated more than 30 years in the petroleum industry holding several international technology positions in Repsol. He is particularly focused on the value added to the E&P Business by new technologies in the field of Geoscience, and presently related to the Digital Transformation in the E&P Business. Francisco received the award from IEEE Spectrum for the Kaleidoscope Project as one the most innovative projects of the year 2008 and another award from Platts for the Commercial Technology of the year in 2009. In 2018 Francisco received the Repsol´s INN Award recognizing his innovative projects in Digital Transformation in Repsol. Francisco has authored or coauthored numerous technical papers presented in International Conferences. He is also a regular key note speaker in Conferences. Francisco is affiliated with the SEG, EAGE and SPE.

He has been engaged in seismic data processing and interpretation research and technology control in Tarim for 27 years and has participated in and undertaken many major research projects from Chinese government and PetroChina. He has won 10 awards at or above the provincial level, 7 national technical invention patents, 3 co-authored monographs, and published more than 30 papers.
