Bonjour---Lucie and Camille:
Yes I would be very happyto answer your questions
Where exactly did you land?
We landed on Easy RedBeach which was a small designated area located just under the area where the cemetary exists today.
When were you in France?
I was in France ,unloading men and supplies from the morning of the invasion up until Novemberwhen we returned to England..I returned to France in the year of 1994 to visit the graves of the crewmembers that were buried at the
cemetary
--Did you loose friends?
On our first attempt to land we were hit several times by the enemy guns and that caused us to loose three of our crew members..The whole crew of fifteen sailors were all
friends
Were you afraid?
The answer to that question is definitely YES we were all afraid from the time we left England to cross the channel and it got worse and worse as we approached the Normandy Beaches to make a landing.Seeing dead bodies all around and also seeing them blown to pieces will cause anyone to be afraid.
Thank You for your interest..
Albert Jean Baptiste Berard.

Bonjour Jonathan,How very nice to hear from you again. From what I read it would appear that you father belongs to a group that maintain WW2 vehicles. We have the same thing in England. To answer your questions:Yes I have been visiting Normandie every year since 1974 and will ofcourse be doing so next year as it is the 60th anniversary. No I have no relatives in Iraq and this pleases me as I have never been that there was sufficient reason to go to war.I hope your project is going well and do not forget the involvement of the very brave men and women of the French resistance.Always at your service.
Frederick.
